Will be interesting to watch this play out as it could take down Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Quote

Every time Leo Lewis spoke to the NCAA, the conversation started the same way.

There was always a statement for the record, a reminder from college sports’ governing body that Lewis would be safe ... so long as he told the truth.

“Leo, do you understand that the limited immunity offer is contingent on you doing that, providing complete and truthful information?” NCAA investigator Mike Sheridan asked Lewis, reading from a prepared document.

“Yes sir,” Lewis replied.

That first time, they were in a Hilton Garden Inn off the highway in Starkville, Miss., early on a humid Wednesday morning in August of 2016. Sheridan went through a series of formal statements for the record; Lewis was immune from losing his NCAA eligibility for anything he might have done as a college football player or as a recruit “... so long as you provide complete, truthful, and accurate information,” Sheridan said.

If the NCAA is its own justice system for players and member institutions, Sheridan and members of the enforcement staff acts as the police and prosecuting attorney. The NCAA’s Committee On Infractions (COI), which orchestrated that meeting in Starkville, is the judge and jury.

This is pretty crazy.

I hope the karma crap-storm Mullen deserves for the Cam Newton thing is finally coming full force at him.

Reading is fundamental

It is, but when it comes to auburn4ever, its an option that is never executed.  It's unreasonable to expect him to actually read anything and use that information logically.

Interesting read. The ncaa seems corrupt to me redacting the names of schools that may be providing improper benefits. Looks kind of like a witch hunt against ole miss, with bammer, lsu and moo st walking untouched.

A witch hunt against Ole Miss?

Perhaps if Ole Miss hadn't had the High Priest (Barney Farrar) gathering his coven (14 Boosters) on a regular basis and was allowed to devise a wide spread plan to coordinate with over 4 dozen active players & recruits to provide impermissible benefits in the form of cash/lodging/meals/clothing/transportation/loaner cars/favorable ACT scores for years on end then the NCAA wouldn't have found so many witches around a boiling cauldron.

OleMiss is charged with Academic Fraud, they lied to the NCAA, over half of Freeze's football staff including Hugh Freeze lied, side-stepped and completely circumvented their own Compliance Department while they continued their Booster operation.  Their program was so out of hand that they couldn't even manage to put the brakes on it while the NCAA was investigating them.

How do you cheat while under investigation?  How does an Athletic Director still have a job when he is only 2 weeks away from going before the COI for the THIRD time in 2 years and will have THREE programs on probation and serving NCAA sanctions?

Maybe witch hunt was a bad choice of words. But it seems they are only interested in the rules ole miss broke and not the others.
