It doesn’t matter. You’re just going to conflate the response.

Evangelicals are totally debasing themselves with their support of Trump.  Your mileage might vary.

Totally, becuase if a Christian supports his presidency then they must support sex with pornstars too. Great insight.

Sorry Titan, but now you know what it's like to be a Southern- born, good-ole-boy who's not a conservative.  ;D

White evangelical support of Donald Trump is at an all-time high, according to a new study. The poll, conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute in March, found that a full 75 percent of white evangelicals surveyed had a positive opinion of Donald Trump, compared to just 22 percent holding an unfavorable view. Among white evangelical men, that number is even higher — 81 percent — while 71 percent of white evangelical women also view Trump favorably. The poll has been tracking Trump’s ratings since he first became a Republican primary candidate in March 2015.

First, how do we know the study is reliable? Does it decide “evangelical” on the basis of a person signing a box?

Good for you.......

You sure don't come across that even keel when it comes to Trump voters.  You take the gloves off for them... Preach it Titan, preach it.

The outrage in this thread over the 'animals' line is full of so much fail and disingenuous nonsense.

It's rather fitting that a couple of the people in this thread crowing the most about what it means to be a Christian or evangelical weren't bothered by the 'basket of deplorable's' line in 2016 and haven't been since then. Or at least as of today they still haven't voiced their outrage about it. But Trump calls MS 13 gang members 'animals' and they promptly chime in with their vocal outrage to it because of their passionate hatred of Trump and his voters.

Calling folks deplorable's or joking about them being deplorable's is cool and apparently not dehumanizing.....................

Thank you. Great post. It's kind of funny that some posters resort to their "Christianity"  and the holy name of Jesus yet sling insults at others and even defend a porn star. Hypocritical in my book. They seem to forget what the Bible says about judging others.

Presumably, they asked them as part of the survey. :-\

So a verbal affirmation? Is that reliable for determining “evangelical?” I mean, that’s quite a claim that’s trying to be made.

Take up with PRRI -  a non profit, non partisan organization.

And why is it self-identification is such a unreliable indicator of who's an evangelical?  Are there evangelical bar exams one needs to pass in order to get certified?

Good grief.  You're so easy.

He is human. Guess you haven't read about King David that God forgave of adultery and MURDER, and forgot that Jesus is  in the lineage of David.

And I must ask, what characteristics does Hillary possess that would make a follower of Jesus vote for her any more than Trump?

No. You’re the one trying to rag on evangelicals and hence, Christianity. In doing so, you post an article that determines one’s status as “evangelical” and presumably “Christian” in a way that has absolutely no correlation to what the Bible says on those matters, or even what the Bible would delineate for one in making such a determination re one’s status. A person is not an evangelical simply becuase they checked a box on a survey. Your post is unreliable and hence, unhelpful.

I’d suggest reading the Bible before taking shots at evangelicals. At a minimum, you’d be more precise in your attacks.

As a matter of fact I have read about King David. When the prophet Nathan confronted David about his sins, David repented and asked God’s forgiveness. I recall your boy Trump saying he didn’t need to ask God for forgiveness.

You seem to "recall" whatever suits your case. Have a link to Trump ever saying such a thing?

I like Matthew 7. Jesus teaching his followers to beware of false prophets. In that same teaching, he said:

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

I will leave that to him and God. As I have said before, I didn't vote for him as my pastor. I did vote for Jimmy Carter because he was avowed Christian. Look how that turned out. That was the last time I placed much emphasis on whether a politician is a supposed Christian or not in how I vote.

In all your research into the past you failed to find that Hillary Clinton apologized for the deplorable comment?

Has Trump apologized for any of insults to John McCain, Chuck Todd, Ted Cruz, Heidi Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Barack Obama, Jeff Sessions, women, Hispanics, Senator Warren, Native Americans, et. al?

And fwiw, my only criticism in this thread was for evangelical Trumpers. I didn’t criticize your boy.

And yet you continued to joke about it and thought it was funny even after she apologized........ ;)

I didn't reference Hillary other than to bring up the 'deplorable's'  term she used. I never actually commented on her using it. I used my commentary and linked examples of posters on here that take umbrage to Trump's rhetoric but fully embrace the attacks on Trump voters and then make excuses to justify  joking or making light of insults towards Trump voters. Ya'll want it both ways.

God forbid anti-Trumper's/Never Trumper's take responsibility for their own actions. It's always Trump's fault or Trump voters fault that cause ya'll to lash out, am I right?
