Heard that he had 21 carries for 135 yards and 2 TDs, as well as 2 catches for 50 yards on Friday. Hopefully he keeps that up and moves up in the ratings/rankings.

Love his pad level and the attitude he runs with. His stride and running style looks  a little Emmitt Smith-ish

RB commit impressed with Auburn run game

Jeffrey Lee

Woodward Academy (Ga.) running back Damari Alston was impressed with Auburn’s run game against Akron Saturday night.

It’s easy to see why.

Alston, who is committed to Auburn, was in the crowd and watched as the Tigers rushed for 316 yards en route to a 60-10 win.

“It was an outstanding performance,” Alston said. “All the running backs looked really good. They all ran downhill. They all ran hard.”

Sophomore Tank Bigsby led the way with 119 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. Jarquez Hunter wasn’t too far behind. The freshman had 110 yards and a touchdown of his own.

“I wasn’t surprised,” Alston said. “I was expecting them to come in and run the ball and that’s what they did. That’s the Auburn tradition, the tradition that I feel I can continue.”

Alston locked in with Auburn

Alston committed to Auburn in July and has remained firm. He doesn’t see that changing.

“I probably won’t visit any other schools,” Alston said. “I’m glad that I am (committed to Auburn).

“Seeing the fan base and how everyone treats me when I come on campus, it makes me even more excited.”

Alston working on Clemons
Alston is doing everything he can to get others to join him.

He spent the better part of Saturday working on four-star wide receiver Darrius Clemons, who made the trip from Oregon for an unofficial visit.

“I feel like we can get him,” Alston said. “I’m working on him hard.”

Alston has set his official visit to Auburn for the weekend of the Georgia game (Oct. 8-10).
