Baseball vs. Texas A&M

Recommended Posts

Last season started off about the same as this year. Then mid-season the pitching came around. Lets hope for the same, plus this year's team is a stronger hitting bunch.

That would be good starting with todays game!

I commented that we’d be a full lineup hitting in the 300’s and we’ve had a few guys fall off.  I think we have that capability- just wish they’d come on.

our pitching is exhausting.  The number of 2 strike hits we’ve given up is frustrating.

also, how many times have we let the lead off batter on and a second batter home run?

the sec is brutal

Hard to judge how good the team is,  after playing at #8, #1 at home, and at #4. Just get back to .500 in the SEC.

Why has the AD not fired Butch Thompson?

Why should he?

The game is on SEC Network.

4-3 A&M bottom of the 3rd, one out.

This is a disheartening season so far. Pitchers are afraid to throw strikes. More frustrating is that some of our most effective pitchers are first year JUCO guys. Our upperclassmen program guys are hurting us. I like Butch a lot but at some point he’s going to have to show some fire from the dugout. Doesn’t seem like there’s any sense of urgency.

Getting runners thrown out at home is becoming a recurring theme with this team. Another inning killer. Gabe needs to fix that.

That ball was smoked up the middle, Gabe should’ve held him @ 3rd.
bases loaded and no outs….we only get 1 run.  It’s gonna catch up mentally eventually.

I like that we’re still battling at the plate. This team is not terrible by any means but will have to earn every thing every inning. That said, TAMU is for real. Big strong and fast. Mashers at the plate and deep with pitching. Better than ARKY in my opinion.

Keep battling at the plate. Myers looking strong in the mound again. Tied 8-8 now.

We would be lucky to win 1 game vs missouri. It would simply come down to if Auburn could average over 7 runs scored.

Unless we happen to score 7+, it's not likely we will win anything

That is a fair statement at the present. If the team finishes 1-8 in the SEC after Sunday’s game, then is it time to push the panic button?

Butch is well beloved by the Auburn fans and alumni, but his track record is not living up to the admiration. None of his Auburn teams have got close to an SEC regular season or tournament championship. Being in the CWS twice has been nice, but a 1-4 record isn’t something to brag about.

This has turned into a weekend that doesn’t help the record but may help this team grow.

How in the world can this performance actually make these AU players increase confidence? If anything, after 3 in a row....it is likely to be the opposite effect.

There is no Sunday game. We started Thursday evening and our SEC record is 1-8. No it is not “panic button” time. Us and other teams have had similar starts and turned things around.

Rest assured our AD knows baseball. Take much more than close losses to 3 legit top ten teams for CBT to be on the “hot seat”.
