SEC Asks Carolina to Limit Use of Popular Sound Effect at SEC Home Games

COLUMBIA, S.C. (November 1, 2006) – The Southeastern Conference has asked the University of South Carolina to limit the use of the popular “rooster crow” at all future

conference home games, it was announced today.

According to conference regulations, “The use of institutionally-controlled computerized sound systems (including music), institutionally controlled artificial noisemakers shall be restricted to pregame, halftime, postgame, after a score and team or media timeouts.”

“We are certainly disappointed that we have to limit the Gamecock crow, as we know it’s a crowd favorite,” said Jeff Crane, USC Athletics Marketing Director, “but obviously we

will comply with the Southeastern Conference rules and regulations.”

The rooster crow will still be heard at the times deemed appropriate by the SEC.
