Bloomburg!!!!???!! Let's surrender the rest of our liberties. I guess Congress could protect us.

Well, given how you've already surrendered to a fair share of your liberties under Bush and the Democrats, why would you object now?

And, AF, you have tried to sidestep my earlier question: How can anybody with the IQ higher than a bullfrog support either political party at this juncture?

We're waiting...

C'mon....

I have not surrendered anything under Bush, Otter. And neither have you.

If you seriously think Bloomburg is an improvement, then don't question my IQ.

I could care less about Bloomburg.

I don't have an opinion about your IQ yet. However, I think your reading comprehension needs work, because I asked a simple question: Are you anywhere close to 100% satisfied with the performance of the Republican party?

I think you have read enough of my postings to know that I have problems with the performance of the President and The Republican Party. I also have problems with our Republican governor. If they would stay with the Republican philosphy, they would be much stronger today. I have many more problems with the Democrat Party and its socialist philosophy. The Unity 08 thingy in this thread is a Bloomburg promotion site so if you don't care about Bloomburg, why are you pushing this thing?

I prefer to work inside to make my input count. I will not waste my time or vote with a third party.

I think 100% does not exist with either party at anytime in the history of either. I have to give AFTiger a side on this one, otter. While I support a third party, I do not want Hillary in the White House. If this movement gains ground and has enough support with a viable candidate, I will vote unity in 08. But if it does not, and I have to choose between the two parties, I will vote GOP with skepticism. Not for the candidate in general, but the overall attitude in Washington as a whole. I would like to see a true Independent candidate who has what it takes to fight with the current political system. I'm not sure that it's going to be enough, but I'll push the agenda as far as it takes it.

A side note.............Bush is only 1/2 of the problem in D.C. The other 1/2 is across town.

Sorry. It's a nice thought, but far more naive and dangerous than actually being a third-party advocate. For working inside the party won't accomplish a cotton-picking thing. Because both party structures are ossified, and made up of insiders who really don't give a rip about what you think. Having been involved in enough political campaigns and dealt with enough politicos, I can tell you that right now.

To me, I think Lieberman's re-election in Connecticut was a bellweather for this kind of movement. The man lost the Democratic primary to the Moveon.com crowd, then came back and spanked the Democratic candidate in the general election. Why? Because primaries are set up to nominate from the fringes of American political thought by playing to very small, highly motivated constituencies, not by playing to the mainstream. I take exception to some of the Lieberman's thoughts on government and economics, but the man had the guts to speak his mind on the Iraq war. And, guess what? The voters in Connecticut re-elected Lieberman, not because they necessarily agreed with the incumbent, but because he told the traditional party structure to go f*** itself.

From Social Security to Medicare to the Electoral process itself, there are huge looming issues that neither party has either the will or the courage to tackle. As a result, the American people are deeply dissatisfied with their choices at the ballot box today.

The GOP and the Democrats are both corrupt. It's that simple. Both parties are bought and paid for by their collection of special interests, none of whom represent any mainstream American interest.

So go on and keep voting Republican. Or keep voting Democrat. Do it until Doomsday if you like. But don't expect anything to change.

Let me put it to you this way. Given the almost even split between Republicans and Democrats in Congress, even holding 5% of all seats in Congress confers a enormous advantage on a third party. Suddnely, no legislation can be passed with out a 3rd party acting as kingmaker.

I just got my updated check stub. I found a new tax charge on it. I am sure you folks are unaware of it as it is likely hidden in your witholding. I was surprised to find I had to pay "imputed income" tax this week. I can not tell you how mad I was when I read the description as a new witholding based on my being "over-insured" according to a US govt guideline that was recently enacted. I will let you know more as I get more info. Right now, I could not care less for the dimbulbs in DC. Screw both of the parties. The Dems for passing it (I guess) and bush for not vetoing it.

I remember them talking about it, but I didn't now it passed. I have no insurance from my employer, but my wife does, so I'll check her check stub.

I have seen the inside of the Dem and Republican Parties. At least the Reps will listen to one of us serfs. But like otter said, if they want my vote, the have to earn it from now on. They will not get it just because they are Republicans, Dems , or whatever.

As for Bloomberg, his candidacy would split NY state's Center-left and is likely to give NY to the Republican candidate. Bloomberg does not hurt the Conservative much. He would kill the Center-left for Hillary and Obama.

We just need some way to wake up these two dead parties. They dont even try to accomplish anything WE NEED to have happen. They focus on only those things their special interest groups WANT done.
