Been cutting back on the beer, what with a baby due any day now

But I am finishing mowing grass, and have a Westbrook Key Lime Pie Gose awaiting me when I get done. :beer2:

Haven't read forward from this point yet but, it is my understanding that, you are allowed to drink. Hope all went or is still going well.

Also, worthy of note?, I "smuggled" (w./ nurse permission) a bottle of good champagne (Pergnon for 1st, Jouet for 2nd) to my wife in post-op for each child. She still seems to love me, even though I couldn't bring in the flutes.

Can't hardly scratch just the museums in 4 days. Accept it and plan another trip. Suggest you mix and match some food and drink into this one.

Yeah, I probably should have asked a little more clearly-ier. I am  looking for beer(and food) recs.

I have been to DC a couple of times, but not since I have become a beer fan. All my previous trips have always been planned and pretty tight. This time, I'm doing my own thing, so to speak. Time to learn about the metro...

More sympathy than anything else. That and anticipation for the Westy 12 I'm going to pop when she's born.

Everything is going great, thank you! Wife is feeling, well, 37 weeks pregnant but she's a trooper. Here she is with our oldest.

Nice work, sir. A lot of lucky people in this thread! And the Westy... yessir.

Best wishes for continued good luck and toughness from your wife. I couldn't imagine, man. Very okay with having been born a dude.

Ashamed to admit that my wife's only act of violence on me was well deserved. First child, with a parade of Family/Friends coming by to help the new momma over coupl'a weeks. Last to leave was my mom. I arrived home from work that day, after Mom's departure, to find my wife crying on the couch. When asked why, she answered "I don't know" and I started singing "It's my partum and I'll cry if I want to." She punched me dead in the chest and stopped my breathing for a few seconds.

I'm also ashamed to admit that if I had it all to do over...

OK, back to beer.

Dude... the clarity with which I can see that exact scene playing out at our house...

A Fairhope Brewery "seasonal," Rescue Dog Red Ale.

Every bit as hoppy as their more familiar (and more widely distributed?) "Causeway" IPA, but hops are much "rounder?," less "edgy?" Also, much more full-bodied malt that balances very well for summer evenings. Finally, at only 8.0%, less potent, but still sufficient to take the Causeway. Don't think they bottle it, but may show up (on tap) in much of the state (AL). Recommended.

I don't get much out of beer porn, but I gather some do. Rescue Dog in it's primary habitat. I let a crowler get to almost (AC) room-temp, poured to a Turvis, and looked for backlighting (during which the fairly thin head evaporated.

Sounds delicious. Red ales usually just have the malt amped up to balance out the hops (and give it the color, similar to brown ales, just different malts I think), so your take on the hop profile makes sense. 8.0%... I hope that dog need not get rescued too quickly.

As for the beer porn, I only do it to 1. humblebrag and 2. pimp the brewery or somebody/something else in the photo. Terrapin sponsors our cornhole league. It's held at Midway Pub. The league name is Cornhole ATL. I tagged all three on this one. I used filters shamelessly.

I liked it better when it was an APA with a little higher alcohol :( . Even though it's a few tenths of a percent lower, I can tell it's a little thinner.

That said, it's still fantastic when it's super fresh. And furthermore, it's one of my current favorites.

That is a ridiculous taplist. I wouldn't make it out of there alive.

And I don't care what's been said about #wickedgreed(SWIDT?), I want to try any variant of French Toast.

Yeah, I don't think you'll forever stamp out craft beer if you try a French Toast.

I'll have it somewhere on my list next week, but I might not make it that far down the list. We'll see. The cool thing about this event is that they do 4 oz pours of everything, so it's not unreasonable to sample a dozen or more beers over the course of the week. (In theory. It has become unreasonable for me to expect to get to the pub 3 or 4 times over the course of a week.)

I haven't had that new version, but like Shocks said, their old version was really good. Those SoPro guys are doing good things.

Waiting on a DDH version with a boosted ABV.

Beers this week...

DFH Romantic Chemistry(IPA with mango, apricot, and ginger): Decent. Tropical citrus. Don't really pick up on the ginger or apricot, but the tropical mango flavor is apparent.

Tallgrass Key Lime Pie Ale: Tastes like key lime pie filling. Otherwise nondescript.

Schlafly Grapefruit IPA: Bottled in January. Grapefruit definitely apparent. No flavor or hop fall off, surprisingly.

Thank you, Friday.

Solid offering by Bayou Teche. Good middle of the road IPA. Bonus art work, a dude straight up knifing a gator.

Indeed. CC Tropicalia on this end. Lots of beer leftover from a cookout Sunday, nothing fancy.

Welp...I'm committed now.

I opened a 2013 a couple months ago to let my good friend try. He's a huge wine guy(we were drinking his $150+ bottles last weekend). I figured I'd share a big, complex stout with him and see if he could jump on the beer train.

He didn't enjoy it and apologized profusely for not finishing his glass. And I was totally fine with it, because I had no problem pouring the rest of his into mine.

I should have let this come up to temp a little bit more. It's amazing how much tastier it got the closer I got to the bottom of the glass.
