Fimebaum & Bama fans, today

Here's my take on it:

Do I think its "classless"? I dont know. Not really. Do i think its weak and petty? Sure do. CTT has a HISTORY of doing borderline classless/petty things and there's always this over-rationalization by AU fans that what he was doing at the time was "misunderstood" or "not classless". Here's a thought: if you are ALWAYS having to go back and say the things he does aren't classless...then maybe he's offering up too many "borderline" actions all together.

The 4 finger thing was weak. There is no bad blood between AU/UA right now. Its a brotherly rival. Fran isnt hear calling you guys TSDTR. Shula and CTT get along fine. Hell AU has been favored 3 of the last 4 years. I know you guys have heard the saying "act like you've been there before". CTT hasnt. When you guys lose, he's always got some smart ass comment to deflect the heat. And then you got him saying stuff all the time in passing that is totally out of line. But he's not overt about it. Thats the difference. If you are really subtle about your slams and passive agressive remarks...you can always leave enough ambiguity there so it can be interepreted many ways.

When have you EVER EVER EVER seen a coach wear some cartoon tshirt slamming their rival? EVER? You wouldn't see Pat Dye wearing that junk and you KNOW it. "Insert David's spin rebuttal here...you know the ones where AU ALWAYS gets the benefit of the doubt and UA never does".

Finally, we are in yet another AU fan double standard. JUST like Rammer Jammer this is something that isnt classless when you do it...because you are "paying us back for all those years of oppression". Whatever. You can't piss and moan about the 60s and 70s and turn around and do the same type of crap and say its ok. Either it isnt ok...or it is. If it is then stop whining about bama fans in the past.

You guys got your panties all in a wad about "the school down the road". CTTs crap with this shirt is much more obvious and in your face...yet he's "just a players coach trying to rally everyone around the importance of the iron bowl"

Oh well...good thing I've gotten used to the double standard around here.

I think this latest little "Whine-Fest" from BG just proved that the shirt is doing exactly what it is suppose to do! Great job Coach TT!! :au::cheer:

I will agree that the head coach wearing the "fear the thumb" shirt" etc, is probably unpresidented, athough in this day and age, I see nothing wrong with it. I remember the "jabs" that the Ole Bear took at Auburn calling us the "Cow College" among other things and the media thought it was "cute." It DID cost him a football game and taught the arrogant so and so a lesson however. I think it is a sign of PROGRESS that Tubs can do this at all! We finally have enough of an upper hand over the X3@$5'* on the other side of the state that we can return the favor from many years back...... Hell, they deserve it! Just one old alum's opinon who really doesn't give a Damn about being politically correct or appeasing any group. War Damn Eagle and fear the second HAND! Damn, that's really looking ahead. hehehehehe

You're right its all about us being disgruntled bama fans. I guess if he would have gone over and mooned coach shula instead of shaking his hand...that would be ok too. I mean the only reason we would get mad is because we lost the game.

CTT can do no wrong in your eyes as long as he wins. He's won 4 in a row ...3 of which he was favored. Wow...good to see he's doing what he's supposed to do.

I also find it hilarious that he is making such a big deal out of beating a team that he SHOULD beat thanks to probation and coaching changes.

But wait.....Aren't you guys "back"?

Alright, I'll give my Bama lovin' take on this.

First, I don't EVER want to hear any AU fan crying about the 70's. I made a post after the Iron Bowl in '03 that simply stated AU fans would act the same as Bama fans IF they had as much dominance now that Bama had in the 60-70's. It's already started, and with 3-4 more wins in a row, most of the AU fansbase will be there. Some of you admit it, some of you don't. Either way, dominance breeds arrogance. It is either wrong then and wrong now, or right then and right now.

Now, does the shirt bother me? No. Does Tuberville wearing the shirt bother me? No. Does a headcoach look silly wearing a "smack-type" shirt? Who cares? Not me. As far as I'm concerned(and I stated this on CT) after watching the Iron Bowl this year, Tuberville could have punched Big Al in the trunk after the game and it wouldn't have bothered me. I also wouldn't care if Tuberville was walking around Orlando with Big Al on a leash as we speak. I wouldn't care if Big Al had to play waterboy for the AU team during the Capital One Bowl game. Who gives a rip?! The Iron Bowl has ALWAYS been about bragging rights. I think we should ALL either learn to accept the ways of winning and losing the Iron Bowl and stop acting like crybabies. That goes to all the Bama fans complaining now, and all the AU fans that ALWAYS throw up the 60-70's.

One more thing. I don't see anything wrong with loving college football, but some people spend waaaaaay too much time worrying about what they can't control. JMHO.

You are 100% right. But things like this, to me, are reserved for the fans...not the coaches. I think the shirt is funny actually. I mean if you can't smile at some good natured ribbing when you get beat...you're wound too tight anyway. I just think its typical tubby when he does something like this.

And Shug...I would agree with your points 100% if it weren't for me having to listen to AU fans my whole life whine about how wrong it was when bama fans ragged them for years...

again, either it wasnt wrong then and it isnt wrong now...or the converse goes. You can't have it both ways. thats all im sayin.

Probation and coaching changes?????????

Those would be the synonyms for "playing by the rules" and " strippers"

Why is it all of a sudden everyone elses problem that your boosters were caught cheating and your coaches can't keep their worms within their pants?

You hit the nail on the head. All UA fans are disgruntled right now. UA fans cannot stand the fact that :au: has had the success they have had during CTT's tenure while their "dynasty" has suffered major blow after blow of one embarrasing episode after the next. I would not have liked seeing CTT "moon" CMS but I would have liked to have seen him bend him over his knee and spank him in order to fully convey to him what just happened on the football field.

CTT can do no wrong in your eyes as long as he wins. He's won 4 in a row ...3 of which he was favored. Wow...good to see he's doing what he's supposed to do.

I bet you wish your coach could do the same????

EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES!!!!! Rivalry games are always big deals regardless of circumstance.

I grew up going to all the UA games as a child with my father a huge UA fan and graduate. I have nothing but respect for the institution. My father gave up his season tickets while I was attending :au: b/c he was unhappy with the leadership at the institution and the poor decisions that were being made concerning the football program. He told me straight up that "the leadership of the institution needs to stop looking at the world through crimson eyes and until that happens they wo'nt see another damn dime out of me!!" He still has no season tickets. Father always knows best!!

WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!!

It's not their fault. I'm not saying that...and please dont think im making excuses. Im saying that tuberville is getting all fired up about beating a team he's SUPPOSED to beat. Beating Bama over the last few years doesnt exactly put him in elite company.

That is all im saying.

I see BG. I didn't realize he was getting fired up. I really read it as him keeping :au: name in the headlines. (orgiving :ua: the cannon fodder to do it for us) Maybe it is just a difference of perspective because of what individual sides we are on. In my humble opinion if he is not getting fired up about beating ANY TEAM (other than the La Techs of the world) than I don't want him. IMO any game in the SEC is big. Even Vandy.

I find the shirt thing humorous at best. TT does this stuff cause if he didnt' then who would, not Shula...his personality is like a log. CrimsonTusk folks are rational and can take a joke, the Bammers that call in Finebaum and act like it is a national disaster are the ones that kill me. I don't understand where some Bama folks get off telling Auburn people how to act and what to say when it comes to this 4 game winning streak. BG what will you say once Alabama is off probation and Auburn still manages to win more games than they lose in the Iron Bowl?

There is nothing that indicates they would since that wasnt the case before we went on probation. I think the iron bowl will always be a pretty evenly matched series.

Thats rediculous. Wearing a t-shirt and holding up 4 fingers does not equal one adult going up to another adult and pulling down their pants on national tv.

CTT can do no wrong in your eyes as long as he wins. He's won 4 in a row ...3 of which he was favored. Wow...good to see he's doing what he's supposed to do.

Interesting, didn't one of your coaches have an affair with his secretary and hit her, all this amid rumours he was cheating and still stay to coach another year?? Of course he won the SEC during that year, and as long as he was winning all the other crap didn't matter, did it. Not that what CTT does or is doing is anywhere near the level Dubose reached.

I also find it hilarious that he is making such a big deal out of beating a team that he SHOULD beat thanks to probation and coaching changes.

Get real BG. It is a RIVALRY GAME!! Always has been always will be. Did the wins UAT got when Auburn was on probation feel hollow to you?? Did you not celebrate, because after all AU was on probation, and you SHOULD have won.

WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!!

** You emailed the picture to Stoic - he told you no - you posted it anyway - now it's gone. Play by the rules or don't post. And btw, the rules are always open to David's interpretation - his board, his call.

I have a serious question, all smack aside:

I realize the Capital One Bowl was a public event with national reporters around, but has anyone seen any dicussion of the shirt in the national press, i.e., ESPN, CollegeFootballNews, SI, etc? Links would be appreciated...

I'm just wondering if all the hoopla is still limited to our state and AU/UAT fans. Does the rest of the nation give a rip or even know a controversy is going on? I'd expect it to at least be brought up in the pre-game TV coverage.

While I don't really think Bama should use probation or coaching changes as an excuse, I can at least understand the feelings of being down due to those things in 2002, 2003, and 2004. [iMO, probation is their own (or their boosters) fault and LSU just beat them with a new coach.]

But just a few weeks before this year's Auburn game Bama was 9-0, SI's cover declared "Bama is Back", and Bama fans were claiming their team to be of national championship quality. Those are hardly the signs of a probation devastated underdog. So did we beat a cripple or a 9-1 national championship contender this year?

Its just in the state, and probably some other SEC states via message board due to Alabama complaining.

The first thing I have a problem with is this: BG, where do you get this being a "brotherly Rivalry"? A brother is someone you love, he's part of your family, SPUAT is not somebody i love(actually HATE is more appropriate) and is certainly not part of my family. We all that have brothers (I don't) probably want our brothers to be successful in anything they try. I want UAT to LOSE at anything they try,and Bama fans are they same way about us, so don't give me this BS that you and most bama fans want Auburn to win until they play UAT. Everybody here knows that isn't true.

I don't like the idea of tuberville wearing the shirt. The fans and enemy both know the results of the last 4 years, and I prefer our coach leave that for the fans. But nobody controls what the coach of any university wears or says. I don't care for it, but my opinion wasn't asked for. If bama fans and players and coaches have such a problem with it, WIN a game...otherwise...FEAR THE THUMB....

I dont care what some coach at bama (current or former) refers to us as. Bama simply doesn't matter at all to me. I'm an AUBURN fan first...and bleed orange and blue, and I have a positive outlook on my hatred of bama. I get to cheer for 11 other teams at least once during the season (12 if bama actually makes the post season, which may be a while after next weeks game...). BEAT THE BADGERS!!!! :au::au: GO RED RAIDERS!!!!! Bama's losing streak reaches THREE.... :cheer::cheer:

WEN/AUN is Dedicated to the Entire AU Family.

That means that a real family of folks post here. Older Folks, Younger Folks, Kids, Ladies, Gentlemen, Fans, Friends, Alumni, Players, Coaches, and even Rival Fans too. We ask that you remember these simple rules for happiness of The Entire AU Family.

1) No Cursing. We have kids on here and Ladies too. One of those Ladies has Admin Keys, btw. We call her The Boss. I am lucky enough to be married to her. ;)

2) No Nudity. I know ITAT is the Big Brother in AU sports and allows "Babe Threads." But we made an agreement between all the porn sites on the web and AUnation. They dont do AU athletics, etc, and we dont do porn. Ladies and Kids again.

3) No name-calling. Grow up and act like adults.

4) Leave the Players Alone. They are 18-22 year old kids. If they sometime act like kids, hey, thats what they do. If they have an off day, give them some grace. If you talk about a situation, I would refer to positions. Saying that the "WRs underperformed." That is very different from saying "Joe Smith sucks!"

5) No "unsubstantiated" rumors. Rule of thumb, if you dont have a link for it, dont post it. Keeps the Blue Sky to a minimum. Even if you site from another Forum, that is okay. Just dont hallucinate new rumors. We are not Tider Insider.

6) When referring to an article, give us a link, ALWAYS! If there is no link, then give us bibliography type info, as in author, article name, magazine-book title, etc. We understand that there might not be an Internet link for Callier's December 1941.

7) Do not post pics or info from AU Premium Sites. We are all friends here in the AU Family. We respect their sites and we have pretty good relations with other sites' admins too. Do not make us look like a dimestore version by ripping their efforts off. We are a free site. We are supported by donations. We know we cannot at present compete with the total insider information/recrutiing business plan. We specialize in hard info, humor, and video clips. It's what we do.

8) Any and all calls by the Mods will be upheld by the Admins. Complain if you want, but it will likely get you nowhere. The mods here have been here for quite a while. There are some new ones but they have been added after a pretty careful review. I implicitly trust the mods decisions. I cannot nor do I want to be involved with all calls as to the rules, class and civility. I back them 100%. I truly cant recall any of our mods over-stepping their bounds. Our mods cover all the forums. I cannot and wont waste all my time doing so. Therefore they rule. If you have a question e-mail/pm one and get an answer.

9) We will leave those that have passed on before us alone. If it is out of respect for family, friends or just common decency, we will refrain from slams below the belt. We here at AUNation are above that. Our Rival posters here are above it as well, or will be gone. If you want to talk ill of Bear, Shug, etc. Go to another board, there you can join in on the local slamfest. You get a free place to express yourself as you want to be heard. Your voice will be protected as much as the next person. We have several forums here and we encourage civil Rivals to join in.

10)We encourage good debate more than most here. We do not ban, hardly if at all. But because we respect your Right to Free Speech, we will deny your use of abusive speech.I bet we have only banned/blocked 5-6 people. We are not the usual website. We are definitely not like most sites on this point. AUNation.net is very pro Free Speech. Just be civil in your discourse. Freely debate ideas, dont curse and name-call.

When in Doubt consult these guidelines (Humor supplied by board member)

G, now you know, the pic is....cute but not on this board. We are very family friendly here. My daughter and her friends come here often enough. We have minors that post here occasionally. This Board really is about the AU Family, all of us, kids too.
