Fimebaum & Bama fans, today

Here's my take on it:

Do I think its "classless"? I dont know. Not really. Do i think its weak and petty? Sure do. CTT has a HISTORY of doing borderline classless/petty things and there's always this over-rationalization by AU fans that what he was doing at the time was "misunderstood" or "not classless". Here's a thought: if you are ALWAYS having to go back and say the things he does aren't classless...then maybe he's offering up too many "borderline" actions all together.

The 4 finger thing was weak. There is no bad blood between AU/UA right now. Its a brotherly rival. Fran isnt hear calling you guys TSDTR. Shula and CTT get along fine. Hell AU has been favored 3 of the last 4 years. I know you guys have heard the saying "act like you've been there before". CTT hasnt. When you guys lose, he's always got some smart ass comment to deflect the heat. And then you got him saying stuff all the time in passing that is totally out of line. But he's not overt about it. Thats the difference. If you are really subtle about your slams and passive agressive remarks...you can always leave enough ambiguity there so it can be interepreted many ways.

When have you EVER EVER EVER seen a coach wear some cartoon tshirt slamming their rival? EVER? You wouldn't see Pat Dye wearing that junk and you KNOW it. "Insert David's spin rebuttal here...you know the ones where AU ALWAYS gets the benefit of the doubt and UA never does".

Finally, we are in yet another AU fan double standard. JUST like Rammer Jammer this is something that isnt classless when you do it...because you are "paying us back for all those years of oppression". Whatever. You can't piss and moan about the 60s and 70s and turn around and do the same type of crap and say its ok. Either it isnt ok...or it is. If it is then stop whining about bama fans in the past.

You guys got your panties all in a wad about "the school down the road". CTTs crap with this shirt is much more obvious and in your face...yet he's "just a players coach trying to rally everyone around the importance of the iron bowl"

Oh well...good thing I've gotten used to the double standard around here.

thought i'd convey the "disgruntled" BAMA fans opinions of another site (one with a lil integrity.... not BAMAmag or TI)

That's a huge sample of bama fans :big:

BamaDelta is the prototype bama fan so take her post as most typical. And like the last poster says, I hope they keep this on the wall all Winter during workouts. I want Auburn to be on their minds every day as they Fear The Thumb.

This thread started on Dec 27 2005, at 02:25 PM. It is now Dec 29 and at 6:00 p.m. when Finebaum signed off, the Bammers were still whinning about the tee shirt. All rational thought has left them, all they can think about is the tee shirt. Or is it the thumb? :P

They do realize they have a football game on Monday don't they? Or are they hanging onto the tee shirt "issue" to keep their minds from the upcoming game?

If the Bama fans are this distracted by the tee shirt, maybe we should have sent several to the football team in Dallas.:lol::lol:

WEN/AUN is Dedicated to the Entire AU Family.

That means that a real family of folks post here. Older Folks, Younger Folks, Kids, Ladies, Gentlemen, Fans, Friends, Alumni, Players, Coaches, and even Rival Fans too. We ask that you remember these simple rules for happiness of The Entire AU Family.

1) No Cursing. We have kids on here and Ladies too. One of those Ladies has Admin Keys, btw. We call her The Boss. I am lucky enough to be married to her. ;)

2) No Nudity. I know ITAT is the Big Brother in AU sports and allows "Babe Threads." But we made an agreement between all the porn sites on the web and AUnation. They dont do AU athletics, etc, and we dont do porn. Ladies and Kids again.

3) No name-calling. Grow up and act like adults.

4) Leave the Players Alone. They are 18-22 year old kids. If they sometime act like kids, hey, thats what they do. If they have an off day, give them some grace. If you talk about a situation, I would refer to positions. Saying that the "WRs underperformed." That is very different from saying "Joe Smith sucks!"

5) No "unsubstantiated" rumors. Rule of thumb, if you dont have a link for it, dont post it. Keeps the Blue Sky to a minimum. Even if you site from another Forum, that is okay. Just dont hallucinate new rumors. We are not Tider Insider.

6) When referring to an article, give us a link, ALWAYS! If there is no link, then give us bibliography type info, as in author, article name, magazine-book title, etc. We understand that there might not be an Internet link for Callier's December 1941.

7) Do not post pics or info from AU Premium Sites. We are all friends here in the AU Family. We respect their sites and we have pretty good relations with other sites' admins too. Do not make us look like a dimestore version by ripping their efforts off. We are a free site. We are supported by donations. We know we cannot at present compete with the total insider information/recrutiing business plan. We specialize in hard info, humor, and video clips. It's what we do.

8) Any and all calls by the Mods will be upheld by the Admins. Complain if you want, but it will likely get you nowhere. The mods here have been here for quite a while. There are some new ones but they have been added after a pretty careful review. I implicitly trust the mods decisions. I cannot nor do I want to be involved with all calls as to the rules, class and civility. I back them 100%. I truly cant recall any of our mods over-stepping their bounds. Our mods cover all the forums. I cannot and wont waste all my time doing so. Therefore they rule. If you have a question e-mail/pm one and get an answer.

9) We will leave those that have passed on before us alone. If it is out of respect for family, friends or just common decency, we will refrain from slams below the belt. We here at AUNation are above that. Our Rival posters here are above it as well, or will be gone. If you want to talk ill of Bear, Shug, etc. Go to another board, there you can join in on the local slamfest. You get a free place to express yourself as you want to be heard. Your voice will be protected as much as the next person. We have several forums here and we encourage civil Rivals to join in.

10)We encourage good debate more than most here. We do not ban, hardly if at all. But because we respect your Right to Free Speech, we will deny your use of abusive speech.I bet we have only banned/blocked 5-6 people. We are not the usual website. We are definitely not like most sites on this point. AUNation.net is very pro Free Speech. Just be civil in your discourse. Freely debate ideas, dont curse and name-call.

When in Doubt consult these guidelines (Humor supplied by board member)

G, now you know, the pic is....cute but not on this board. We are very family friendly here. My daughter and her friends come here often enough. We have minors that post here occasionally. This Board really is about the AU Family, all of us, kids too.

207632

I posted the link, instead of the picture, so it wouldn't be so easy to offend someone, ...but, uhm...you're kidding me, right? Maybe YOU should review those rules yourself, along with a few of your closest buddies in here.

[snip] ** EDITED BY JENNY AU-92**

Now, if you wanna single someone out again...think first.

Okay, I thought about it - and I am STILL singling you out. Maybe you should think first before posting...

...what? ...You STILL haven't banned me!?! lol

Just a matter of an admin with a free moment, I assure you. If your whole goal was to come on here and start enough crap to get banned, you are definitely headed in the right direction...

...what? ...You STILL haven't banned me!?! lol

Is this what you want? I mean, we don't have itchy trigger fingers around here. I'd say less than a dozen people have been banned in all the years David's owned this board, so it's not like we look for reasons to do it.

Just use some common sense. This board isn't a free for all. We try to keep the place the kind of forum that wouldn't embarrass us if one of our kids logged on or was looking over our shoulder. Maybe that takes the fun out of it for you. If so, there are other Auburn forums you can sow your oats on. But if you'd like to hang out here, don't purposely defy the admins and call out the owner because you don't like his rules.

This will serve as a warning. The next incident will garner you at least a week's vacation.

Okay, I've totally lost track of the argument, but I totally support whatever David and the Mods have been doing over the last several years to make this the best board on the web.

Meanwhile, back to Bama and the shirt: .?.....

You couldn't make this stuff up:

A couple years after Bamas head coach is caught roll tiding a stripper/hooker...without his wife's approval...the Crimson necks are calling our coach classless for a t-shirt acknowledging the number of times in a row AU beat Bama?

The school whose most legendary coach constantly verbally berated the cross state rival w/ such witicisms as "cow college" is now outraged the same cross state rival's coach wore a shirt acknowldeging 4 victories in a row?

Are we talking about the same crimson polyester-wearing hicks that call us...hicks?

Folks, there's NO difference between a coach slamming an opponent verbally or doing it on a shirt and ANYBODY that denies Bear, Perkins, etc. didn't openly verbally trash AU @ every opportunity is smoking something (or drinking something crimson).

You're right its all about us being disgruntled bama fans. I guess if he would have gone over and mooned coach shula instead of shaking his hand...that would be ok too. I mean the only reason we would get mad is because we lost the game.

CTT can do no wrong in your eyes as long as he wins. He's won 4 in a row ...3 of which he was favored. Wow...good to see he's doing what he's supposed to do.

I also find it hilarious that he is making such a big deal out of beating a team that he SHOULD beat thanks to probation and coaching changes.

207565

You mean the same team talking Rose Bowl and Championships with a top ten ranking?

Sorry bud, but the coaching and probation thing shouldn't be used by a bama fan this season. Y'all had a great season and to downgrade it to probation and coaching changes will take the luster out of a season that should be remembered by these tide seniors.

Bama's program took a step in the right direction this season....dont make excuses for the downfalls, lets look at positives.

Hey bammer grad IN CASE YOU MISSED IT BAMA'S BACK.......... WE DIDNT HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT PROBATION OR LACK OF DEPTH when they was 9-0 but now that they suck you yes you bring up all that probation bs but guess what you go on probation when you cheat :moon:   oh yeah fear the thumb or stick it up your hairy a%%

AMEN BROTHER

I will agree that the head coach wearing the "fear the thumb" shirt" etc, is probably unpresidented, athough in this day and age, I see nothing wrong with it. I remember the "jabs" that the Ole Bear took at Auburn calling us the "Cow College" among other things and the media thought it was "cute." It DID cost him a football game and taught the arrogant so and so a lesson however. I think it is a sign of PROGRESS that Tubs can do this at all! We finally have enough of an upper hand over the X3@$5'* on the other side of the state that we can return the favor from many years back...... Hell, they deserve it! Just one old alum's opinon who really doesn't give a Damn about being politically correct or appeasing any group. War Damn Eagle and fear the second HAND! Damn, that's really looking ahead. hehehehehe

Probation and coaching changes?????????

Im saying that tuberville is getting all fired up about beating a team he's SUPPOSED to beat. Beating Bama over the last few years doesnt exactly put him in elite company.

That is all im saying.

207597

But wait, after the weak 9 schedule, bammer was 'back' and ranked number 3.

Climate is the same in the state just like after 1989. Bammer will try/do anything to reverse the trend. Wonder who the target will be this time (i.e. Ramsey)

I hope that you are not correct, but, that is the way the mullets operate. They can't win on a level playing field, so, they gotta' do SOMETHING-ANYTHING.

Keep your eyes and ears open. The first volley will be fired sooner than later. They must. It is who they are. <_<

Not to be ugly here but I think every :au: fan on the planet is waiting for the shoe to drop now. I recently spoke with some lettermen that are waiting on it. The coaching staff is preparing for it. I mean it would be totally against everything in Iron Bowl history for there NOT to be wild allegations coming out of Tuscaloosa.

Funny, it is a bad thing when Fulmer turns them in. When they do it, it is "Tradition."

Everyone remember Charlie Dare back in the Curry years? Curry put him up to turning Dye in for promising to get his ACT/SAT fixed so he could play at Auburn. Problem with the story was that CD's grades were so bad he was a non-qual no matter what. If he aced the frakin ACT he was still a non-qual. The NCAA looked into it and found ZERO truth in it.

To their credit some of the Bama folks understood Curry's lame attempt and turned their back on him.

Background: CD's Dad moved here from California so Charlie could play at Enterprise. Thereby getting him into Alabama. Now, if the parents gave up their jobs so CD could play at Enterprise so the son could play at Bama, then where exactly was Dye in the recruiting? CD's Dad took a 'job' selling insurance btw.

Where are they now? Glad you asked...

You have me rolling at my desk now...

He spoke at the Church my girlfriend at the time was a member of...all Bammers BTW. Talked of how that "other school" offered him all kinds of things to play for them, but he was not brought up that way.

I hate to see anyone get caught up in anything like that, but sometimes reality is a bi#$% aint it?

What was the outcome? Was he found guilty and do some time?

The google returned nothing. Best recollection: Dare, Dad and Mom were arrested and pled out. Think they got restitution and Probation. Dont hold me to that tho.

BG what will you say once Alabama is off probation and Auburn still manages to win more games than they lose in the Iron Bowl?

207603

There is nothing that indicates they would since that wasnt the case before we went on probation. I think the iron bowl will always be a pretty evenly matched series.

207607

nothing???...let's see Auburn won more in the series before bryant, and has WON more in the series since Bryant left.... The only time you've had the edge, and the only reason you currently lead in the series is because of the Bryant years... Yet NOTHING indicates we won't win more in the series than bama will in the future??? :roflol::roflol: oops sorry, BG, i forgot you bammies don't like facts, unless they are in your favor....
