Chris Wallace takes Fox and Friends to task

courtesy of www.barackobama.com. Big kudos to Chris Wallace...Sean Hannity should take some notes.

On Fox and Friends this morning, hosts Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade, and Gretchen Carlson spent multiple segments sensationalizing a comment Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) made yesterday...

When the trio welcomed Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace onto the show, instead of previewing his show this weekend, Wallace announced that he was going to take his fellow Fox hosts “to task” for their “excessive” and “somewhat distorting” coverage of what Obama said...

We appreciate Chris Wallace for doing his job as a tough but fair journalist on a network that has been deeply irresponsible over the last week in its unrelenting and sensationalistic coverage of Senator Obama.

Senator Obama gave the speech he did on Tuesday because he believes that Americans are ready for a thoughtful, mature discussion about race, and are hungry to move past media-generated controversies that distract from the struggles they face in their everyday lives.

If Fox News wants to play clips of the same offensive sound bites every day from now until November, that's their right, but that type of coverage does a disservice to their viewers and to a nation that is facing serious challenges that merit thoughtful and honest reporting.

UPDATE: We've become aware of the fact that Brian Kilmeade was so offended by Fox and Friends this morning that he actually walked off the set. We appreciate the fact that he too was so offended by Fox's treatment of this serious issue that like Chris Wallace, he chose to speak out.

For any educated person, it is not neccessary to analyze or distort Wright's rantings. They clearly speak for themself. No amount of spin will change that.

We recently installed a bunch of large screen TV monitors in our network operations room. While we get all of our monitoring tools configured to be on those screens, they hooked up the cable so we could watch the NCAA tourney games in the background. Also on is Fox News all day long.

Now I know that this whole Rev. Wright thing has been big news, but I swear Fox has become nothing but wall to wall Rev. Wright TV. It's gotten to be a tad ridiculous. I think the whole network has gone nuts over this story. I mean, all the cable news networks talk about it, but on Fox it's almost the only story that exists.

I think it's time for "Fair and Balanced" to balance it's news coverage with a few other items unless new information comes out.

I can see both sides points on the issue but I don't see where it is any different than CNN or MSNBC sunshine pumping for their liberal viewers. I am glad that a major network want let this die. People need to wake up and realize what Obama is all about. It is obvious Obama was just trying to deflect the attention. But I guess that is what all politicians do. Deflect the truth. Both sides are guilty of this. I believe Obama has done himself in on this. He may have lost a lot of the white votes he was getting.

So in your opinion...what is obama exactly all about. And to be fair and balanced...what in your opinion is mccain all about?

Better yet...what are you all about?

But that's the thing. No one that even pretends to be objective really thinks this is what Obama is "all about." God knows I've got my issues with his utter inflexible ways of thinking on abortion, but he's not all about being a black racist.

He may not be a racist but he is a 20 year member of a church that strongly pushes the liberation theology that want to make this country a socialistic society.

You should take a good look in the mirror.

I think most of us were just shocked by the 20 year connection with The Trinity United Church of Hate. Look Wright isnt a "typical" B) pastor in any stretch of the word. While the US was embracing Obama and may still elect him President, he was very adeptly removing Wright from political view. We all see that now. Since all this has broken with Wright, where the hell is this racist hatemonger? If this was anyone else in America they would be all over the cable all weekend doing the talk show circuit. We havent heard bumpkis from Wright. Is Obama's getting another free pass from the press? Is the Obama campaign trying to hide this man from the US? We need to know more about Wright and his thinking to get a better idea of what is or was going on. What does Wright think about getting thrown under the bus? The whole nation deserves to know.

They shipped Wright out to Africa.:thumbsup: But of course that trip has been scheduled for months and months. ;)

I raise this question to you all, especially runred

If this had happened with the pastor from the church Hillary attends (hang on.. :roflol: I can't believe I just typed that) how would the world and Obama's constituents reacted?? If this type of hate steamed from the lips of a white Baptist preacher, what would have been the fall back? Can't cry foul at white people spewing venom and turn around and do it yourself!!! But they do....

As a typical white person, I didn't have any racism "bread into me" . Maybe blacks have their racism bread into them, and simply assume the same must be true for whites. Chris Wallace is a news professional, and his comments reflect that, but he also admitted missing much of what was said on Fox 'n Friends , due to his 20 other hits he was doing while their show was going on.

Which one of those whack jobs said that the US government (controlled by rich white people) created and spread the AIDS virus in the black community or that 9/11 was just the "chickens coming home to roost" or God D*** America or that our government (again, controlled by rich white people) distributed or helped get distributed drugs into the inner city black community or...

Do I really need to go on? Hagee and Parsley may be morons, but everything they've said combined doesn't measure up to Wright's lunacy.

Having watched this become video wallpaper for the last solid week, do you honestly think Obama is getting any kind of "free pass" at this point on this issue?

Two observations:

1. A major commentator from CNN or CNBC would never take one of its shows to task for too much Bush bashing.

2. Chris Wallace has been trying to get Obama to come on his show for an interview. As you recall, Obama refuses to appear on the nation's leading cable news network prefering to stay in the safe and friendly confines of CNN or CNBC.

And a 15 minute segment interviewing Wright COULD have shut this stuff down. I am afraid that Obamas Campaign thinks the exact opposite is true and that is why we may not ever see Wright speak in public till after November.

He's been on Meet The Press with Tim Russert twice. If you think Russert asks "safe" questions, I submit the only thing that would make you happy would be questions done at gunpoint.
