Yes, he stepped down before to be able to spend more time with his family.  Cally was in HS and involved in sports and his family remained in Auburn while he was at UNC the first time. 

Always will have respect for Chizik.  He is a good man, and he’s a damn good defensive coach.

I assume yellow font should have been used.  Both coaches (Chiz and Tub) were paid off long ago.

My money says that’s what this is about. Mack will retire after next season.

Mack used the scenario of losing chizik to justify the position of “coach in waiting “ for muschamp. It also showed to be useless.

Chizik was the DC at UNC for 1 season if my memory is correct. Larry Fedora was the head coach during that time. Chizik took over a defense back then that was pretty pathetic and instantly turned them around. The year Chizik was their DC I'm pretty sure they won like 11 games or so. I could be wrong. Anyway, it's really nice to see Chiz and Mack Brown back together. He was Mack's DC at Texas when they won the Natty in 2005. I agree with others here who say that Mack Brown will retire soon and this hiring of Chizik is to groom him to take over head coaching duties when Mack retires. WDE Coach Chizik
