2023 Signees and Commitments

Jason Caldwell from Auburn's 247 site says that Mitchell sent him a message on Monday saying he was signing with Auburn.  Caldwell called and talked to him, had a story with quotes ready to roll this AM and was going to meet with Tony this morning prior to the ceremony to take some pics for it.  Then the kid was unreachable since last night and now he's back with Alabama.

Recruiting is a dirty bidness, folks.

There has been talk of a flip for 10 days.  It's been known.  Some mod making a prediction last night didn't all of a sudden make Bama change their mind and act on it.  They've known

There is no possible way around predictions.  You have to be able to sign a kid when there are predictions.  Basically, when a coveted Alabama player is trending Auburn, there should be no belief he is coming to Auburn.  This has been going on for 13 years now.

I predict the same thing to happen next cycle and for the next 20 years.

Yes. It's a game they play and we keep falling for it and get our hopes up.  Many of us have learned by now and some have yet to have the message sink in. We got the LB Woodward last year because he tore up his knee. Had he not been damaged good we wouldn't have been able to sign him.

I believe it.  100%.  But Bama knew what was happening way before any prediction.

It's also Thompson

Feels like something like this Mitchell situation happens every year and folks still don’t learn. Only way Mitchell ended up at Auburn was if he got processed out by Bama, other than that he was never coming to Auburn no matter what he told reporters.

When Auburn has some continuity and less drama behind the scenes then we’ll start winning these big time battles with in state kids starting next year

This. The idea that Bama had no idea what was going on until last night when predictions came in and then that gave them the opportunity to "up their offer" is incredibly silly.

This has been a known possibility for 10+ days now when Mitchell came in for a visit and we pretended like he wasn't here. C'mon guys, Bama knows what is going on within this state.

The reality of this kid is that he's told multiple schools he was coming. There was talk the entire year that A&M could flip him with NIL until their season imploded. This is your typical yearly Bama plant of a kid that pretends like he's not going to Bama at the last minute and then magically changes his mind. It's a game at this point.

And this is where it is really effed up! That reporter was on his way there and had to turn around when this leaked a hour before his commitment ceremony. Kid should of never let it get that far down the road.

This kid was not playing us. He just got an offer he couldn't refuse.  It's never over til it's over. We got 20 minutes. And then there is the portal.

Most of us had no idea and wasn't counting on this guy anyway. Now we are all in a tizzy about it.

We are doing well, VERY well, for a 3 week process and have SUPERceded many predictions already for our situation.

Everybody calm down. We will be fine, and we will will some of these in our future.

Can Mods move BigBirds comment that started all this and all comments associated with it to a new thread so this one can focus on our signing day.

Let's move on, nothing to see here. Unless he signs with us, I am tire of the discussion.

If he really wanted to go to AU he would be.

@GwillMac6You do remember that's not true in some cases right? A parent has to sign for an NLI to be legally binding. Without a parent or guardian signature the NLI is null and void.

Yeah I’m confused. He didn’t sign. Happens every year. Let’s move on.

We’re going to have a great day. WDE.

Enough on Mitchell. If he changes his mind last minute back to us, cool. If not, several more great players out there, and DB is one of the position groups we should be least worried about immediately.
On to the next storyline.

This is big.  Something we have missed in past signings.  Now this is a comment to get excited about.
