He will always be an AU Tiger at heart but unless something drastically changes he will not be playing college at Auburn.

I have a feeling Luper will be a good one. It is almost like having a (very fast) coach on the field. He has done a nice job recruiting for us. I wish he would put off his commitment til at least haflway through his senior season.

I agree. I would love to get him if we miss on Rodgers, Johnson, Treadwell, and OJ which seems likely.

I agree. From everything I have read about him, he has the meaning of Auburn Man dripping off of him. It's not like he is chopped liver on the field either.

I would love to have Cam Echols-Luper too but if this article is on point, you will see why he wont be coming to Auburn and why he never got an offer from AU. It has nothing to do with his talent, he was straight up with Coach Chizik that he wanted to go back home to Texas to play CFB. That is where his heart is and you have to admire him for being honest with our Coaches. Good luck to him, he is going to make someone a good football player.

from the article at AuburnSports.com:

"After I told my stepdad and Coach Chizik that I was going to play college football in Texas, my recruitment from them never progressed to the point of them offering," said Echols-Luper. "I love Auburn, but I wanted to go home. I want to go back to Texas."

Congrats to Cam Luper on committing to Texas A&M today!

Should make for some interesting father-son post-game conversations the next few years (hopefully each stays in their respective place for a little while!).

Guys, you got it wrong. It was fellow LB commit CAMERON TONEY from Huntsville High. Not Cameron Luper. Cameron Toney also tweeted pictures of the visit.

Cameron Echols-Luper, the stepson of Auburn recruiting coordinator Curtis Luper, committed to Texas A&M on Tuesday, choosing the Aggies over TCU.

Echols-Luper, a high school quarterback who projects as a receiver on the college level, had also listed Auburn in his final three. But his father told the Opelika-Auburn News on Monday that Echols-Luper had always wanted to go to school in Texas, where their extended family lives.

"He let myself and coach (Gene) Chizik know early on, like a long time ago, that he wanted to play in Texas," Curtis Luper told the News. "Once he let me know that and let coach Chizik know it, Auburn wasn't really a player at all. We never even got to where we were offering Cameron because Cameron was going to play in Texas."

The 6-foot-0, 190-pound Echols-Luper, a track standout who has been hand-timed with a sub-4.4 time in the 40-yard dash, accounted for 2,339 yards of total offense and 25 total touchdowns last season at Auburn High School.

Great (free interview video) on AUC with Coach Luper....a very proud dad and you can see why he is such a good recruiter too.

I thought we had a good shot of landing Cameron. Oh well. Congrats to the young man.

He did not have an Auburn offer.

Please keep Cameron in your thoughts and Prayers. He suffered a head injury tonight and has loss of feeling in his left arm. He is currently at the hospital for tests.
