Meanwhile, as we patiently await word from the committee,

from CBS Sports,

Gus Malzahn's Tigers made a four-spot jump in the rankings to No. 9 after beating Ole Miss on Saturday night.”

And from ESPN’s weekly SEC Power-Rankings commentary,

“’ As for Auburn, there might not be a hotter team in college football right now.’ -- Greg Ostendorf”

Will be interesting to see the first playoff rankings tonight, hopefully the SEC east doesn't hurt the west too much. I say if we win out and beat Bama, we could be around 4 and Bama would be around 5. If not, we would beat Florida in the championship game and assuming they're still a top 10 team, we would definitely jump Bama then. This is assuming A&M loses to Ole Miss or LSU.

Getting some media love,

Better than not getting media love, that's for sure.

And while I'm really trying to resist the "just wait til next year" song and dance, it is media attention the second half of this season that will decide how we're positioned in the preseason polls next year. And they do matter. I don't like it- it's a highly subjective popularity contest and it's utter crap- but they matter.

So... I think it's worth a lot for us to finish strong and for the general perception of our team from the outside to be as positive as possible.
