Been over that bridge a hundred times. Used to drive from Montgomery to Crawfordsville, AR- population 625 when I was a kid, probably lower than that now- all the time to see my grandparents. My mom was born and raised there, and had a surprisingly cosmopolitan upbringing growing up that close to Memphis in the 50s and 60s. But not that cosmopolitan. I've eaten chitlins that Ma Loof fried up in our kitchen.

Anyway. I can legit summon the feeling of the gentle bounce of riding over those expansion joints while laid out in the back of a two-toned blue Caprice Classic station wagon late at night. The kind with the rear-facing 3rd row seat.

My great grandmother spent her final years living in West Memphis. Was completely self sufficient until she passed peacefully in her sleep in her own bed at 99. Well, she didn't drive. Never once drove in her life. The folks from church would pick her up to get groceries and such. She was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan. Seemed like she had them on TV every time we visited in the summer, turned up to 11 because she didn't hear so good. We were all fans back during the Ozzie Smith years.

If the little grocery is still open in Crawfordsville, they make a damned good burger.

Sorry. That bridge legit brings up all kinds of memories.

Will testify that this beauty lasted longer than my sweet 2013 Kia Soul...as I look to replace both, thought to share!  EXTREMELY well-made, and can't tell that it faded a bit.  You can get it on a T-shirt, mug, pretty much anything!  I trimmed the white away and positioned it on the hatchback. Sweet!!

Few pics from this week on the Emerald Coast in Fort Walton. Daughter had Dance Nationals this week.  It was a good week.  Notice the difference in available beach towards the end.  Surge from Barry made its way all the way to the stairs by Friday. Imagine if the storm was coming in right there.  Oh and yes, that is a shark in the pics.  Several hung around for about 3 hours. Some dead fish were dumped into the ocean and brought them close to shore. One pic is of a hurricane hunter plane that just took off from the air force military base nearby.  I call the Sandcastle WINTERFELL Haha.

Spent a couple of days at Yankee Stadium this week.  Unfortunately my Rockies lost both, but still fun.  Did Monument Park for the first time and also walked through the Yankees Museum.

I'm very fortunate in that I get to travel a lot for work and see/experience cool things.

It's been a while since I visited this thread. Lots of good stuff in here, as usual!

I just got back home from vacation in Turkey and thought I'd share a couple pics:

These are the coast of the Aegean sea from the city of Çeşme. The mountains in the far distance is Greece.

The next few are from a town called Rize (pronounce Ri-zeh), in the northern part of the country, in the Black Sea region.

Alex wanted to get out and pet it. I said no maybe next time. If we made it through fireworks season with all our fingers there’s no need in messing with a baby gator.

I’ve seen them before in the water. This was the first time I saw one way out of the water. We saw five or six more walking across fairways. They weren’t much bigger than this one. Only saw one mama sized. It was in a pond.

I've had them on the green while we had to wait so we could putt. Happen once on Grand Cypress East course the biggest gator I ever saw just sunning itself.

Sidenote if you ever get a chance to play any of the Grand Cypress courses I highly recommend it. The New Course is a somewhat replica of St. Andrews.

I also ran into Gale Sayers there nicest guy in the world bought me a beer or two at the 19th hole.
