Sources: OL Toth seeks Army OK to join Eagles

Adam SchefterESPN Senior Writer

Former Army offensive tackle Brett Toth wants to play in the NFL and is seeking a waiver from senior Army leadership that would allow him to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, according to sources familiar with the situation.

President Donald Trump said in May he would allow military academy athletes to get waivers to join pro sports teams upon graduation. Air Force draftee Austin Cutting became the first military graduate to sign with a team, the Minnesota Vikings, under the president's change of policy.

Toth, a second lieutenant who graduated as a nuclear engineer in May 2018 and fulfilled his first year of active military service, is waiting for Army leadership to allow him to sign his contract with the Eagles and try to win a spot on their roster.

Toth became the first player from West Point to play in the Senior Bowl and teams immediately took notice of his abilities. Toth has drawn interest from multiple NFL teams in addition to the Eagles, who have one of the NFL's top offensive line coaches, Jeff Stoutland.

Kyler Murray, his new coach, and his OL aren’t doing too hot.

12 total yards and a safety

Raiders: 235 total yards before the half.

Buy low on the Cards O players in fantasy

Not sure how bad the defense for the Cards is, but the Raiders shredded them and looked good. Our Danny boy was perfect on XP and FGs. Tried and true down the middle on every one.

I think that’s like 16 successful FG attempts (not including 30 yard PATs) in a row if we want to include last season and pre season.

Baker Mayfield just went savage on Daniel Jones. I appreciate the alpha in his personality, but now am going to have to root against him 4 life.

To me, I thought the biggest issue for taking him at 6 is they could have taken him with their 2nd pick in the mid first round and picked up a better projected player at that spot. Maybe they had Intel he would go before that pick.  IDK.

That whole GQ article is a bad look for him, IMO. I really love watching Mayfield play, but he comes off like a huge tool here.

Patriots safety Patrick Chung indicted on cocaine possession in New Hampshire

Patrick Chung has found himself in trouble with the law

New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung was indicted for a cocaine possession charge, the Belknap County Attorney's Office told Kevin Duffy of the Boston Herald. As Duffy notes, the incident is said to have occurred "on our about June 25" and was presented with the indictment on August 8.

Murmurs of Chung's indictment began sprouting after The Laconia Daily Sun named a Patrick C. Chung, 32, of Meredith in a report that stated he was indicted on a charge of cocaine possession. Because Chung's middle name is Christopher and does have a place in Meredith, New Hampshire, the dots were easily connected.

Since then, it has been confirmed that the person given the indictment is, in fact, Patrick Chung of the New England Patriots.

Following the news of Chung's indictment, the team did release a brief statement saying that they are aware of the reports, but will not comment at this time.

Via the Daily Sun, the indictment states that Chung "did possess or have under his control a quantity of the controlled substance cocaine." Meredith Police Chief Kevin Morrow told the Daily Sun that Chung "was not arrested and there is no photo to provide" when asked about the safety's booking info.

Chung is scheduled to be arraigned on next Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET. Per The Daily Sun, cocaine possession is a Class B felony and carries a potential prison sentence of three and a half to seven years.

Chung, who totaled 84 tackles and an interception last season, signed a one-year extension with the Patriots earlier this offseason that is set to keep him under contract in New England through the 2021 season.

Saw this on another board:

Cam Newton will be starting and it'll be his first game action this preseason. It will be interesting in seeing his arm strength and throwing motion after surgery, but so far all camp reviews have been positive. It's iffy if Brady will play tonight and if he does Stidham will likely play only the fourth quarter. If Brady doesn't play expect Stidham to play at least two quarters.

This may be the first time former AU QBs have played in the same NFL game, regular or exhibition.
