SECCG thoughts on what to expect

I'm worried about some things. The mental state of our team is not one of those things.

Ask Missouri how a Gus Malzahn team gets up for the SECCG after a few emotional weeks and a couple big wins. Imagine how a Gus Malzahn team with a defense would have treated them.

I'm hopeful we're about to find out. :jossun:

can't wait.  love the talk about how auburn didnt beat Georgia because we're better but because they were uncharacteristically mistake riddled.  go back and look at their games and youll see several exaamples of where theyve made mistakes and where turnovers should have happened but ints were dropped etc. auburn just capitalized on their mistakes where others did not. saturday we will show it wasnt a fluke

The problem

is uga hasn’t been relevant in college football in a very long time. Due to the SEC West sucking so bad this year the finally get to make a playoff game. They know fully well with Muschamp coming on at SC and Mullen moving to Florida this might be their last chance in a while to make anything happen. They are really desperate. It really is sad . You have to feel bad for them. NOT ?

Those were forced mistakes.  Fromm did not miss wide open receivers, his o-line could not block long enough for him to make a play.  Once things started to go sideways and they figured out Auburn was whipping them, they lost their composure.  Why do you think UGA players were arguing on the sidelines?  Not sure why normally competent people are running with this theory that Auburn is the beneficiary of 2 opponents merely playing their worst game of the season.

All this hype is doing is setting them up for another big letdown.  I am not adverse to that at all.

Again everyone talking about uat and uga playing bad against us. You think maybe us kicking their butts had something to do with that ? I’m pretty sure that when teams against uat look bad their fans are not attributing the loss to the opposing team making mistakes. Write this down” Auburn made uat and uga make mistakes and come Saturday we are going to make uga make mistakes again” it is not rocket science folks. WDE

Statistic: Auburn missed 2 tackles to Georgia's 10 first game

something to look forward to

After the beat down a few weeks ago and the way our defensive line controlled the game, I see Uga changing a few things. Of course they are a run first team but here is what I see them doing:

1) This is the big one: We will probably see a ton of RB screens to counter our speed on the DL. That is what we did so well against them and I sure that is what they will try to do against us. They hardly ran any when we played them last game.

2) I think they will hand the ball to their fast WR running down the LOS a few times like LSU did against us. They ran this play a few times against Ga Tech and it worked. They know that they will need to try and get to the edges because it is hard running up the middle on our defense consistently.

3) They will run more quick slants. Again - they want to neutralize our strength - the DL.

4) They will run more sweeps to get to the outside.

On defense they will watch the quick passes to Ryan D on the outside. We killed them and alabama with this over and over. Of course if they play up it can create wide open players running down the field if Stidham has time.

I think we have a great chance to beat uga again but we will need to play out of our minds again for the 3rd time in 4 weeks. They played poorly the first time (a lot of it was us but some of it was them) and I don't expect them to play that way again. They are pissed and we are beat up. Can we keep playing this well again without having a letdown? I hope we can but it is very difficult. This is the toughest AU schdeule I have ever seen. This AU team is special but it will take something extraordinary for us to beat Uga again after just beating them a few weeks ago.

I don't think it will take "something extraordinary" to beat Georgia. I think we're the better team. We'll have to play well but this will not be a miracle if we beat them again. I'm expecting Auburn to win actually

Before answering, one quick question about these outside voices you are listening to.  Can other people hear them too?  ;)

What? You guys don’t hear that?

Also JS got a lot better

on the intermediate passes in the last two games . Against uga the first time we were using deep passes. This time they will play behind an Stidham will burn them with intermediate passes.

Heck the first time we didn’t use much of Ryan Davis because we were saving him for uat. We will unleash RD and Hastings this time. That is why I expect us to beat them worse this time.

I will be shocked if we win by more than 7 or 10.

@Eagle Eye 7... don't forget that Tre wasn't at full strength against Georgia. If they watched the bama game, they should be terrified about what he adds to the rush/run D.

And he still isn't at full strength but is a little better than he was before.

I don’t think we’ll blow out UGA by that much just cause they can’t feasibly use the same offensive gameplan. Will be a lot more passes in spaces that will cause at the very least our defense to work more. They can’t improve eason that much as a deep ball thrower but there’s a lot more they can do behind the line and with off tackle runs

He certainly played like he did in the Clemson game on Saturday. Here's hoping he's got at least 3 more in him before he takes a well deserved break.

He will be a whole lot better than what uga saw the first time. Sometimes I think folks listen to much to the talking heads like Danielson. I remember quite a few in hear saying it would be close against uat and uga the first time around. They were wrong and saying again ain’t going to help uga.

Yeah I getcha. I been watching all these guys on tv talking about them picking us to lose because of kj's health but I think he's gonna be fine.

There is no need to blow them out, just win the game.

Meanwhile if Georgia tries to blitz like last game, Chip apparently has some answers that were developed against  bama.

It will probably be a very different game but I still see an Auburn win.

I just don’t think UGA can run up and down the field in Auburn....in all their big wins they have literally pounded teams into submission. Steele is a crafty and experienced as they come. He will adjust just like he adjusted after Bama scored after the half and put the ball in the hands of Fromm. Don’t forget about Carlson, him kicking in the Dome is a great asset for Auburn. And remember Gus has been here before as a head guy and so have a few of the seniors. Auburn has a lot to play for, and I am sure they are aware UGA wants blood....But Auburn wants something more than revenge..a championship.
