Trump's Hush Money Payment Was Done Illegally, With Campaign Cash

I find it hilarious that Trump could actually be Impeached AND Removed for Financial Crapola. I am fine as frog hair with him gone and the idea that running around with whores is the issue AND he was so cheap he used campaign funds to pay them off...too damn funny! :laugh::laugh:

In all honesty, I hope that this re-establishes the standard in Washington DC. I have 1000% Faith that the Clintons violated the same laws dozens if not hundreds of times. Maybe, going forward we actually get pols that abide by the law rather than look to see how many times they can run the hell over it.

I laughed at the idea of getting rid of Trump like getting getting rid of Capone, not for what he did, but for tax evasion of campaign finance laws. :laugh::laugh:

This.  Politicians, whether left or right, need to be held to the same legal standards as the citizenry.  An argument can be made that they should be held to higher standards.

The party that can demonstrate that corruption among it's members is not tolerated should win the day.  At this moment, the Democrats are doing a better job of that.  I believe that is why the did do well in the midterms.

The GOP could alter this by dealing with Trump's load of corruption.

Outside of the current administration's  woes what actions should the legislative body take to ensure greater levels of transparency, scrutiny and enforcement as it relates to corruption in government?

Enforce the damn laws. If this was a Democrat, I am loathe to tell you that A LARGE CHUNK OF THE PRESS WOULD EXCUSE IT OR NOT CARE.

Depends on the press.  Fox is an MSM outlet whether conservatives consider it so or not.  You can be damn sure this level of corruption would receive wall to wall coverage on Fox if the president were a Democrat, and rightly so.

I doubt CNN would in that scenario, but this level of corruption in the executive branch is fairly unprecedented and we don't truly have a previous real world litmus test to know.

I'm not a lawyer but a lot of them disagree. Time will tell but at this time I don't know that it is a fact.

I think this is important to note.  There are members of the Nixon administration consistently saying that what is going on here is a bigger deal than Watergate.  Now with the explosion of media outlets and consumption in the intervening 40+ years, there really isn't a litmus test for how media should/would have reacted.  It's a new world.

Unequivocally yes.  Just a few links that I've found and skimmed so far.

The Slow Burn podcasts on Watergate and Bill Clinton are really interesting. A lot of it has to do with media coverage.

Slippery slope but it’s past time that waste of taxpayer dollars (Washington D.C.) did something constructive with all this borrowed cash over the last couple of decades.

You must not have watched CNN during the days up to the election. All they talked about was Clinton emails.

I did.  I was using Edwards as it is most similar to this specific Trump scenario.

I agree that CNN has offered negative press for the Clinton's.

Not to Trump supporters or Fox News.

I was watching a little bit of a Fox news panel today while working out at the gym.  They kept insisting that nothing Cohen has admitted to implicated Trump in any way.  In fact, they totally blamed Cohen for not advising Trump what they were doing was illegal.  Riiiiiight.
