meh130 1,043 Posted January 8, 2021 Share Posted January 8, 2021 Derek Mason is a 3-4 guy. Jeff Schmedding is a hybrid 4-3 guy. That may mean we have two LB coaches (outside and inside). As I understand it, Al Pogue was coaching the BUCK position last year, so we really had two LB coaches. Schmedding coached inside linebackers last season, but before that he coached Boise State's STUD position (their term for what we call the BUCK). With Crime Dog gone we need a good DB coach. Mason has coached DBs before, but given the number of DBs playing due to base nickel packages, we may need someone else. Can we get T-Rob to come home? It was going to be Schmedding & Danielson, but I'm guessing that Danielson pulled back because he's in play for the Boise State DC job under Avalos.
