Look, you can’t just turn o-line recruiting around over night.  First of all you need to build relationships and develop players.   The number of o-lineman in the NFL and more importantly the lack of preparedness and failure of Auburn o-lineman in the NFL has been a death sentence in recruiting elite talent for the last decade.   Running a kids offense for a decade has damning effects on recruiting.

He failed to recruit lineman. The offense (spread concept) itself isn’t kids. The majority of college and some NFL teams run some version of the spread offense. He didn’t add any additional concepts.

All I’ll say is, I was so damn proud of the way the team hung in there. And that’s no moral victory. I tend to look at the positives. It’s just my nature.

You know, I've never liked you very much. (But that can all change if that pizza's still on the menu when I get down that way to give you the ol' what fer.)

1st down at the bama 46 with 1:56 on the clock and a 7 point lead. We ran off *25 seconds* before punting and losing.

It was painful enough watching this in real time. Why did you have to post this for it to live forever here? Damn you….

THANK YOU!

Why are we defending this dude today for his “culture” or “laying foundations” or whatever? Dude has been a disaster! He lost this game! It was right there!!!! Did you guys already forget miss state? Or freakin lowly South Carolina? Gee whiz!!

Prepare to be eviscerated by this board. It's a mystery to me how people came away from the end of Saturday's game happy.

Another data point to consider: we were 20 point underdogs at home. Not awful to turn that into a 4 OT loss. Fair balance on the job done by our team and staff to do that in a game where we were supposed to be blown out.

Spreads mean nothing. Opinions mean nothing. All that matters is what actually happens when the ball is kicked off. There was nothing, NOTHING, I saw from Alabama that made me think we were lucky to just be close. We completely stifled them for 59:36. It wasn't a fluke. We could have and should have won.

I'm not all the way there on "Harsin ain't it" with you yet- even though I said exactly that Saturday night in a fit of emotion- but folks need to be honest about how this season ended.

I defended Gus for several years, saying give him time. I'll extend Harsin the same courtesy. But if we asked him why we lost these games in the ways that we did, he would candidly and genuinely put a large amount of the blame on himself and his staff.

People love narratives, not facts. The narrative has been "these losses are fine because we are building a foundation". Any all failings somehow fit under this umbrella.

How does throwing a fade on 4th and goal at PSU have anything to do with foundation laying? How does 4th and 1 at USC have anything to do with a "culture change"? How giving up 40 unanswered at home to MSU have anything to do with year 1? That shouldn't happen any year, ever. Why is "patience" required to want your coach to close out the biggest iron bowl upset in history with basic common sense decisions?

I'm with you. I'm not done with Harsin. But the losses have nothing to do with this "culture change" narrative. That needs to be dropped.

Let's make sure we give proper credit for the mistakes here & through the game. The coaching issues on this drive on 3rd & 1 at least & through the game as a whole was running up the middle there & often through the game given we are weakest on the OL inside the tackles. Bobo has play calling autonomy. He made those calls & did not adjust throughout the game to try to get our playmakers outside in space more often. You covered the Tank part well. That drive is not on Harsin.

It's on him if in game 12 Mike Bobo still has total playcalling autonomy.

Nutsburg. Aught loves to hear himself. Check the number of posts he has in his own thread. I bet he checks it every few minutes.

Got any "more dumber" things to say, Ol McDonald?

Harsin is the only reason we're in this game. These guys believe in him and his staff. Get on board and quit bitc#ing

It's better for others to suspect ignorance rather than your mouth to open and remove all doubt.

You obviously have no idea how accurate betting lines are. People literally make a living projecting that.

We need better consistency where we aren't taking #2 down to the wire while also getting thumped by bottom dwelling SEC teams.

I agree. But needing that consistency is being laid entirely on this season. It is not like Harsin set the stage for this. We haven’t had back to back wins in over 30 years. 30 freaking years!  8 of the past 13 seasons we’ve had 5 or more losses. Monumental wins sandwiched in between inexplicable losses. We’ve been that program for decades. It’s maddening and I want it to end as much as anyone but the inconsistency goes back 3 decades, not just the last 3 weeks.

And they are wrong, what, literally half the time? You probably like the CFP setup too. If there's anything I've learned from years of being involved with sports is that human beings consistently get predictions and estimations wrong. It's why they play the games.

Waiting for the argument against this...

Not trying to intervene but….accurate spreads and knowing odds are why all those big casinos and hotels are in Vegas

Exactly. They're not in the losing money business.

I don't evaluate who should win a game by what Vegas says, I evaluate it by what happens after kickoff. We should have won the game. We had the horses, the momentum, and the breaks.

Auburn hasn't been favored in an Iron Bowl since 2007. I think we've won a few since then though, no?
