Practice News & Notes: 8/14 (Scrimmage #2)

Just getting the thread ready. The scrimmage is at 10 AM CT.

OLine looked a little better, held blocks especially in passing. Going to be key to get rid of the ball early. Still underwhelming. 

WRs looked rough today. Not crisp routes. Dropped passes. 

RBs are tough and fight for everything. Cadillac has them tough and hitting holes in the interior hard, even if there’s not a lot of room. 

Several backups played well...always tough to gauge. 

Qbs...all I keep hearing is how Nix is going to start, but still looks like JG is the leader to most I talk to...so who knows!?! No INTs today. What does the QB do when the play breaks down? The QB that handles that better will be the starter IMO.

No major injury updates. Lots of sore dudes but came out OK. It was blazing hot! Certainly not Nip-worthy...yet.

HEADLINE PREDICTION:

Tiger Center, Kaleb Kim is named the Scrimmage MVP. 

He will be masterful in his protection call-outs, he's going to snap the ball clean & crisp every time, he will stay upright and NOT do backflips nor reverse summersaults, he and his Guard cohorts will open gaping holes and give up no sacks.

Neither one will scrimmage much if at all unless they feel 100% today. No need to. The staff knows what they bring to the table. Seth is dealing with minor back issues FWIW.

In my opinion we should be team "QB competition." I want the best man for the job to get AU back to winning games. If its Joey great. If its Bo great. I just want to win again.

I'm one of those heretics that do not necessarily mind a dual QB offense but we're getting close to game day so I'd love to see both look impressive today to keep Oregon (and us🙂) guessing.

Don't be surprised if it's the two's. Last scrimmage I think the OL struggled against the one's and the two's.

If you look at the team build, you will notice a very familiar setup as far as seniors, strengths, etc. to the 2010 and 2013 teams.  Going to be one of those magic years on the plains.

Except the OL is nowhere near close to those OLs right now.
