Exploring the stouts and BSDA's lately. Tried Old Rasputin last week. I like it. My wife can't stand the smell. Got Brother Thelonius chilling in the freezer before I crack one open here in a minute. On a bit of a North Coast Brewing Company bender, I guess.

Old Rasputin is a great Russian Imperial Stout.

Scrimshaw is a good, easy drinking Czech Pils from North Coast.

I enjoyed the Brother Thelonius. It smelled better than it tasted, but it tasted good. Better as it warmed.

I enjoyed the Old Rasputin. Good People has two Russian Imperial Stouts in their lineup I need to find time to try. One of them has an ABV of 13.9 and and has great reviews on Beeradvocate.

Oskar Blues Ten Fidy RIS is highly regarded too. Fall/Winter seasonal, so it should be hitting shelves soon. It's expensive, but worth it.

Do you happen to know how well it ages? It was canned about 11 months ago.

EDIT: It's awesome. Now I need to try it fresh.

Went to Strange Brewing today in Denver. I had their Breakfast Grapefruit IPA and the wife had the Cherry Kriek. Both excellent. Tiny spot just south of Broncos stadium.

I need to try it fresh to see how much of a difference aging made. I'll also need to find a way to hide one or two of them for the future.

Not much of an IPA guy. But don't know how you beat Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. I have a 4 pack of the 90 Minute to try next. I usually like saisons, pilsners, sours. Love any Oktoberfest beers.

Saison: Avondale, Stillwater Artisinal Stateside Saison

Sours: Boulevard Two Jokers, Duschese de Bourgogne, Boulevard Love Child

Stout: Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Double Latte

Porter: Beer Engineers Peanut Butter Porter, Avondale Vanillaphant Porter

Summer Beer: Sierra Nevada Summerfest

Pale Ale: Sierra Nevada

I've heard good things about Raging Bitch. Either the local places don't carry Flying Dog, or it's not distributed here.

Flying Dog's Gonzo Imperial Porter is legit. They offer a barrel aged one as well.

I had an enjoyable wheat this past week...Abita Lemon Harvest Wheat. Not too overpowering with the lemon zest. A nice summer brew.

I've only been drinking the IPA and Little Sumpin and they are both outstanding. Seriously might be my favorite right now. Let me know what you think about the Extra.

Sumpin Sumpin is supposed to be a hopped up wheat. Personally, I can pick up the wheat aspect.

Extra completely destroys the wheat portion. If you are a fan of Lagunitas Sucks, you'll really like this one.

And Sumpin Wild is a cool beer too. Has wild yeast(or bacteria) introduced to it, I believe lactobacillus. It's awesome. A seasonal though.

I did have the Lagunitas Pils at Mellow Mushroom in Auburn this past weekend. Very good.
