Governor Bentley Refuses Syrian Refugees Relocating to Alabama

NOVEMBER 15, 2015

PRESS RELEASES

MONTGOMERY—Governor Robert Bentley on Sunday announced he is refusing Syrian refugees relocating to Alabama.

“After full consideration of this weekend’s attacks of terror on innocent citizens in Paris, I will oppose any attempt to relocate Syrian refugees to Alabama through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. As your Governor, I will not stand complicit to a policy that places the citizens of Alabama in harm’s way,” Governor Robert Bentley said.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is working diligently with the FBI, DHS and federal intelligence partners to monitor any possible threats. Law enforcement presence has been increased at major gathering events in Alabama to further insure the safety of citizens. To date, there has been no credible intelligence of any terrorist threats in Alabama.

Alabama currently has one U.S. State Department approved refugee processing center in Mobile. There have been no Syrian refugees relocated in Alabama to date, though neighboring states have processed a number of refugees.

“The acts of terror committed over the weekend are a tragic reminder to the world that evil exists and takes the form of terrorists who seek to destroy the basic freedoms we will always fight to preserve. I will not place Alabamians at even the slightest, possible risk of an attack on our people. Please continue to join me in praying for those who have suffered loss and for those who will never allow freedom to fade at the hands of terrorists,” Governor Bentley added.

It's a great start, but unfortunately means nothing. Just like the EU, once they get stateside they can pretty much travel at will.

Ahh the good ol days.../sarc off/

After checking it out, I can't find a different image, although the origins of this one are a bit shady.

Claims it is from little rock HS, KKK protest in central Alabama, HS protest in Birmingham, segregation protest in Chicago... This picture is slapped in a lot of different places.

That doesnt answer my question, how are you going to prove that refugees have honorable intentions? Didnt some of the Paris attackers come through Croatia with the waves of refugees? Some very hard decisions are going to have to be made , this is not a traditional war its going to take untraditional tactics and alot of international support to win. I understand you have a problem with the decision but come on. does that really help the debate, use facts to persuade me, Im not opposed to changing my mind if given the facts. People are scared AUUSN new videos from ISIS are threatening the US with the same attacks thathit Paris, and thanks for defending.the homeland

You want to compare security clearances? Preaching to me won't win your argument. That last sentence will need some refining.

Sign making is easy. Even idiots can do it. Just watch any ESPN gameday show.

Doesn't reflect the policies or attitudes of a society.

But keep spinning .

The issue is whether or not we lump all Muslims together as terrorists, which a lot of the rhetoric on this forum - including yours - clearly suggests we should do.

You're flat out wrong. Have I not said, in this very forum, if not thread, that Egypts el Sisi is a " good " Muslim ? One who should be praised for his actions, but our President chooses to turn a blind eye, for all too obvious reasons ?

This non existent fear of mistakenly lumping ALL Muslims in w/ the radicalized ones has been a complete sham since before the smoke cleared on 9/11. The Left and the PC idiots in this country and around the world bend over backwards to appease and placate the Muslim world, instead of just calling the evil bastards for who they are. It's that mentality which has allowed Europe's door to remain wide open, as they blindly allow over a million " immigrants " across their borders, with no concern of who these folks are, and what they plan to do when they get here.

I swear, if I didn't know better I'd swear you were trying to be funny.

Translation : I just got shown up, yet again, and instead of admitting it , I'll just make yet another inane attempt at juvenile humor.

That's demented and clueless.

The irony of this post is that it is causing people to laugh out loud when they read it.

What "facts"?

And I'll let the French deal with their cultural integration problems. It's none of my business.

On the other hand, your use of hate-inciting language on this forum is my business as a member of this forum and as a citizen.

The fact that Europe ( not just France ) is under an INVASION. Again, your ignorance on the situation doesn't mean it's not happening.

And "hate- inciting language " ? What sort of wussified PC pablum is that ? Get into your jammies, crawl under your comforter, and go commune w/ the idiots who whine about too much white privilege , global warming or how unfair it is to live in America.

I said facts, not demented ranting.

And identifying a religious group as being collectively responsible for terrorism -even if that terrorism is based on a distorted view of their common religion - is to logically invite retribution on that group. In other words, it's hate speech.

It's truth. Hate it all you wish, doesn't make it hate speech.

Try informing yourself about the invasion. I posted 1 video. Debunk it. If you can.

What I do understand is the present is reality and we aren't taking it seriously until it's too late.......just like France.

While I'm not a lawyer with a deep knowledge of the law, I'm pretty sure the Governor doesn't have the legal authority to do this. Immigration is federal jurisdiction, not state.

Of course I don't have a degree in theology either, but I don't know how our self-proclaimed "Christian" governor (or any other Christian, for that matter) reconciles this stand with Jesus' message to care for the downtrodden, welcome the stranger, love one another, and do onto others as we would have them do unto us. (I guess the Good Samaritan probably shouldn't have helped the victim on the side of the road since he was putting his own life at risk by stopping to help in a criminal-infested area.)

It's truly bizarre at the false choices that the left on the here seem to be wanting to present. We either round up all Muslims put them in camps or are we just let them roam free and not have a care in the world , everybody's equal we shouldn't dare profile anyone.

With Obama in this crowd of sycophants who follow him, there is no sober, pragmatic, or reasonable middleground. It's everybody comes here , we trust everybody, but we don't verify anything. We just open the doors and assume everything's gonna be great.

Sheer lunacy.

Past is prologue . What a load of crap. Kids today are being TAUGHT to hate the present because of what happened in the past.

We move on. We get in with our lives. Germany & Japan are great allies. Those who cling to the politics of division & strife WANT the past to stay relevant. It's how they stir hate & unrest.

Fear-based policy changes are pretty much the whole point of terrorism.

......A February 2015 article in Dabiq, the official magazine of ISIS, offers a clear window into their agenda. Published in the immediate aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, the essay was titled, "The Extinction of the Grayzone."

"The presence of the Khilafa [islamic Caliphate] magnifies the political, social, economic, and emotional impact of any operation carried out by the mujahadin [freedom fighters] against the enraged crusaders,” Dabiq stated. “This magnified impact compels the crusaders to actively destroy the grayzone themselves, the zone in which many of the hypocrites and deviant innovators living in the West are hiding…."

Here, ISIS revealed its intention to unravel the fabric of Western civil society — what it calls the "grayzone” — by provoking governments into carrying out disproportionate military reprisals and adopting draconian security measures.

Once repression and Islamophobia in Western societies reaches sufficiently unbearable levels, the author wrote, “The Muslims in the West will quickly find themselves between one of two choices, they either apostatize and adopt the kufri [infidel] religion propagated by Bush, Obama, Blair, Cameron, Sarkozy, and Hollande in the name of Islam so as to live amongst the kuffar [infidels] without hardship, or they perform hijrah [emigrate] to the Islamic State and thereby escape persecution from the crusader governments and citizens.”

In the mind of the Dabiq author, who appeared to be among the ideological vanguard of ISIS, the West’s descent into full-blown fascism would force Muslim immigrants to flee for the sanctuary provided by the Islamic State.

To bring this scenario to fruition, IS has aimed to cultivate favorable terrain for the Western political elements most likely to incite against Muslims, campaign for repressive surveillance laws, and ultimately play out an apocalyptic clash of civilizations. Indeed, IS is doing everything in its power to propel the militarists also seeking to extinguish the grayzone.

If it is cool with all of you, I'd like to ask a question on topic.

Heard French dude (PM maybe?) went on a rant and declared merciless unwavering attacks on ISIS.

Was this just dude being angry? Or is France saying **** Geneva and our current accepted rules?

Since I heard the sound bite I haven't seen anything else about them going above and beyond the rules.

From same article:

The reactions to the Paris attacks by influential political actors across the West suggest that ISIS may have gotten exactly the result it wants. Vowing a “pitiless war,” French President Francois Hollande ordered a series of airstrikes around the ISIS-controlled city of Raqqa. To convince himself that another bombing run over the smoldering ruins of Syria would do anything to improve France’s security, Hollande clearly ignored the final words of one of the gunmen who massacred theatergoers in Paris: “Hollande should not have intervened in Syria!” But with mainstream French conservatives like Laurent Qauquiez calling for placing thousands of terror suspects in an internment camp, Hollande may have had no political space to act rationally.
