This has been discussed multiple times. Bruce lied about a bbq. This guy had recruiting violations along with getting some side action. The NCAA would literally make their new office in Auburn with how much we’d be scrutinized. Sorry not looking for that. He’s a great coach but baggage worries me.

Let me start by saying I’m on board with Freeze. 
 

But the situations between the two coaches are very different. Pearl got fired because some minor infractions were violated, and he made the bad decision to cover them up rather than report them. 
 

Freeze was involved in a lot of illegal recruiting activities spanning the bulk of his tenure at Ole Miss. The result of his actions left Ole Miss incurring some major penalties. And, on top of that, he showed some character issues by cheating on his wife. 
 

Freeze has a lot more baggage than Bruce.

If the NCAA isn't parked in Lynchburg, I don't know why we think it will be here.

Freeze will not be able to pull the recruiting shenanigans here like he could in Ole Miss.  He won't have to either.

He will also not be able to get away with escorts either.

Slap a clause in the contract, and lets go!

Our main recruiting area is alabama, Georgia, Florida.  Auburn has to compete against probably the 3 best recruiters in the country.  With all of that you want to hire a coach that has demonstrated the only way he can recruit is by cheating.   Now you want to give our 3 top competitors additional ammo to use against us through negative recruiting.  I can see them telling recruits you go to auburn they will be on probation before you leave.  With that kind of pressure, Freeze does not have the character nor ethics to stay clean.

I don’t have a problem with Freeze.  He thought he was invisible at Ole Miss. He found out he wasn’t.  He has not only learned his lesson he knows dang well he is not invisible at Auburn.  Does anyone actually think the NCAA is going to look at us more because he is here?  That’s a bunch of baloney.  They already love to stick it to Auburn because Auburn is a thorn in the side of “The Mighty Tide” and their favorite midget coach.  It’s not gonna be any worse because of who is chosen to be the coach.  If Freeze is the best one out there we need to go after him.

Not even close . What Pearl has done doesn’t hold water to what Freeze has done . I have nothing against folks making mistakes, but for those folks running around pretending to be all high and holy, telling folks how they should live, while at the same doing things as bad are the worst people in the world . I would rather freeze never touch the ground at Auburn.

Yea it’s not like the NCAA has run roughshod over AU since Bruce arrived 🤔 well then again maybe they have. I can assure you not only the NCAA but the SEC would be breathing down our necks hard if we hired freeze . Thanks but no thanks. Next!

We all know that all Sec schools compete against each other for instance we also compete against ark and MSU also.  Competing against those three is not primarily Miss objective although miss will go into West Alabama against Saben but these area are of utmost importance to auburn.  In addition, comparing Pearl to Freeze is non issue.  BECAUSE PEARL TO I BELIEVE IT IS MILWAUKEE GREENBAY AND Tennessee to several NCAA tournaments was a top name in basketball and better to address negative recruiting.  In addition, Pearl has to address lying to the NCAA, Freeze has to address 13 level 1 violations.  You are 100% right negative recruiting is occurring all the time so I ask you again why would you give our competitors another bullet to put at our heads.  And again finally he has not demonstrated he can recruit in the SEC without cheating.

I dont know if these things are all applicable to Hugh Freeze but those are the traits I think about when I see Bruce Pearl.

We all make mistakes and commit sins. I feel like CHF has owned up to his shortcomings and learned from his mistakes. I would put his character up there with the other candidates. If Liberty was willing to take a chance on him I think we could as well.  Unlike most of the others on the list He might be an upgrade.
