Saw that.  I think we could have gotten him cheaper.

Yup. Admin screwed this up big time. Over paid a questionable candidate that will divide the fanbase and looking incompetent for the entire search

Here is one thing that’s good.Hugh knows this is likely his last shot. If he makes another mistake like at OM he will get a life time ban from D1 and he knows it. Also Hugh  has always been a good coach on the field  everywhere he has been. Nick Saban actually tried to hire Hugh ( twice I believe) and the SEC asked him not to, so if Saban thought he was good then he probably is. So let’s just give it a chance. I doubt seriously it will be any worse than Harsin.

He wouldn't get a ban from D1. Ole Miss has stated a few times that they were keeping him even with the NCAA sanctions. The personal life stuff got him fired. He was winning and Ole Miss was fine with keeping him if it was just the NCAA stuff.

I think school's wanted him but didn't want to be the Guinea pig to hire him. Now that Auburn has hired him, I think other schools would take him even if he were to get Auburn put on probation. College football is a moneymaker and schools will hire a winning coach. There's already articles up saying Liberty needs to hire Art Briles.

I’ll wait til it’s official…but once it is I’m gone for good. Not just from the board. From the University. Period. What a freaking pathetic disgrace to a University that used to stand on family. Now they’re all just frauds.

@Eagle Eye 7

Hugh wasn't in the top 5 on my list but I did say this about him. Out of all the candidates mentioned he was probably the one coach who would appreciate the opportunity the most and that he would work hard because of that. When it comes to football, he definitely has the ability to do a good job. What's done is done so we'll just have to see how it shakes out on the personal side. He does have a Southern accent so there is that.

Sure. He got the lessers at Ole Miss too, right?

Enjoy your outrage.

I support the  Auburn Football Team.

I am optimistic. Whether it is HF or anyone but someone’s favorite, no one is going to satisfy all of us…including me.
If it is HF, then maybe he will be motivated to succeed where-in both former coaches were missing a spark or connection. I believe CGM got complacent and took AU to the cleaners, while CBH was just a wrong hire .

How much is his Escort Budget?

$200,000 a year.

Auburn said they'd bus the hookers into Auburn from Birmingham, but Freeze countered that he only would accept the finest women from Atlanta and Auburn admin. relented even though it would be more expensive.

Auburn athletics is also reportedly installing new locks onto the office doors of all female athletic staff and employees.....just in case.

I am going to trust our compliance department and extend a little grace to CHF and his family.

Welcome to Auburn coach!

Yep.   I think most Auburn people will support CHF.   He was not not in my top 3, but still I will support him and the university ... BUT ... He does need to earn our respect and will be on a short leash till he does so.

Thank you for this update. Seems rather low must be a monthly figure? The last part will just make it more fun for him I think. They can run…

Why go? Stay and see how it all plays out. He may be at a point of redemption, only GOD knows his heart, not you or me. He is here to coach football and more than likely his contract is airtight against issues that concern you.

I agree.

His family forgave him but these strangers that have never met him want to crucify him. LOL They'll be at Tiger Walk getting their pictures made with him when he is winning. Probably even tell ol' Hugh to take a picture with their wife.

Bunch of hypocrites

The best players are trying to prepare for the NFL. The best players do not come to schools that run gimmicky "catch 'em out of position" do more with less offenses. Gus was missing a top level QB most years because top QBs don't go to schools that run Sunbelt offense. Project athletes and undersized receivers go to those schools. QBs that could outrun everyone their low-A high schools played go to those schools. Alabama, Georgia, LSU and other teams with professional offenses get the top athletes. Gus got what was left. Hugh will get less of that.

Not any more, and that’s why Malik Willis was drafted high and getting reps in the league, and a two time (geeze I hope it will only be one time) NCAA champ Stetson Bennett himself won’t even be able to hold a clipboard in the NFL unless he is drafted as a place kick holding specialist. Jaxon Dart went to Kiffin at Ole Miss, and that’s more than gimmickry. It’s all about the trenches. No QB can do well with our OL right now.  We will be fine with a real coach now.
