Question concerning Texas A&M

I live in Auburn - Grove Hill Subdivision - about a block over there is a Mayflower Moving Van and a huge Texas A&M Football moving van in front of one of the houses. Are we loosing someone to A&M? I doubt they would provide a moving van to move someone to AU. Which sport would it be? And NO - it is not in front of CTT's house.

I noticed that when I was jogging a couple days ago. I haven't found out and information yet, but Lebo doesn't live far from where it was I am told.

Well, A&M is out a basketball coach at this point...I guess anything is possible.

well according to UK and Gillispie they didnt even talk to him until very recently so id say offering the job to other people would be more than premature. And he didnt even accept until today. So I dont really think Lebo would be the one.

I really expected more from this board. Guys, NO LINK NO POST! This is not some lame rumor mill like Tider Insider.

From TAMU Rivals

FWIW, they dont even seem to care to think about Lebo.

From TAMU-Scout

Maybe a play by him for more $$$?

He is a great coach. If he stays 2-3 more years we will be very solid.

What do you guys think of Jeff Lebow at Auburn? I'm hearing he may very well be the man. If so, you are getting a great one. The man can flat out coach.

He's horrible imo. I've watched him over the last few years as a UK fan and I would hate for him to be the next man at A&M.

Re: Well, time to talk replacements for BG. Who are the suspect

He hasn't had a lot to work with at Auburn. Cliff Ellis left the program in pretty bad shape. What he has done with what little he had to put on the court has been pretty good. Auburn's BB program is no where near UK's, but the Tigers held their own this season with a very young team.

Aggies beat the dog out of him this year

I will say I've gotten many phone calls asking this same question. Apparently one of the Montgomery or Columbus stations spent a large amount of their sports talking about the Lebo to Texas A&M rumor.

I was wondering when Lebo's name would've been coming up. He likes big-time basketball and he tried his best to make the AU program better. He did well, but Texas A&M is a much bigger program. He'll get more out of it so he can bolt them for UNC someday. The Auburn program isn't good enough to get him that job someday. That is his dream - to be at UNC.

People would have said the same thing about UF before Donovan got there.

Not yet, at least. If Lebo is able to win any SEC titles while at Auburn and hangs them in a new arena, people will take notice.

I don't know about A&M being a "bigger" program. They did well under Gillespie, but they were lousy for the 25 years before that.

A&M is in a lot easier conference than :au: so maybe one would figure it is easier to compile a good record. I want Lebo to stay, but if he leaves I could not blame him. I would like to see us go get Pelfrey at USA. Another Patino disciple. I think Smith, Sendek, and Donovan have done okay.

I dont. I watched him coach against AU in Auburn this year. All he did is sit on his hiney and then complain about calls the whole night. I dont think i saw him coach all night.

I must agree. There’s no doubt there program is in better shape than Auburn’s is at the present time. Looking at their history it seems that Gillespie is the reason. In his three years at A&M he has compiled a record of 70-26. Looking at both schools basketball histories there is not a lot of difference. Auburn is 1,165 – 1,014 all time with 8 NCAA appearances (12-8) Texas A&M is 1,176 – 1,119 all time with a 8 NCAA appearance (6-8 not counting consolation loss in 1969)

Here’s a look at Texas A&M Basketball through the years.

Eh, I don't know about Pelphrey. He's awfully young and unproven. Sure he took USA to the tourney, but so did Cliff Ellis. Also, Pelphrey was the guy "guarding" Laettner on that infamous play back in 1992.

I will agree with you on Pitino disciples. They seem to do well. But remember that the three you listed actually coached under Pitino as assistants, whereas John just played under him.
