Western European countries tend to be more socialistic, but they have a different tax structure. It is not easy to compare taxes among them and the US.

Western European countries tend to tax individuals more and businesses less. They also have value added taxes include with prices paid by consumers. The US has state and local sales taxes.

The US taxes the business more and those businesses pass the cost of taxation on to the consumers.
