It's Possible that Jeremy could make some 2016 noise

Now that we have a legit #1 receiver coming in in Kyle Davis that will help our QBs tremendously.

I thought of Duke as legitimate #1 receiver

and then Stevens

and possibly Slayton

Myron Burton Jr?

I'm going to need to see us actually keep a receiver an entire year and have him play at a #1 type level for that span.

We had 2 of them last year. We had one the year before. We had them in 2009, 2010 and 2011, too. Come on, man.

We don't have one this year and we've had several candidates that should've been able. Gus wasn't the head coach in 2009-2012, so bringing that up seems bass ackwards.

Correct....the much maligned Trooper Taylor was the WR coach under Chiz....Maybe he knew more than he got credit for :dunno:

Trooper developed some solid receivers.... Emory, Darvin, Zachary was alright, Trovon was his only major bust, but he wasn't lining up with 4*s like we have now.

True.....once the 2012 season was over, nobody on Chiz's staff (except Gus) got credit for anything....like Gus won that BCS championship by himself.

Hoping that since it looks like we have some very good WR prospects committed this year, someone can help put them in the class with some recent WRs that have given us so much trouble from TAMU, OM,bama, etc. etc.

You seemed to be pointing to a trend, which would require going back to previous seasons. Since Gus hasn't been our head coach that long, I figured I'd include all the seasons that he has run our offense (notice I left out 2012).

And unless you can establish a trend, your "I'm going to need to see" stuff is a little silly.

Sorry W-T....looks like he didn't take the hint.....maybe you need to be more persuasive ....

Well to be fair, his last post is only a minute after mine. It's quite possible he never even saw mine and took his troll ball and went home before he saw it. Until he learns to spell and use proper grammar he'll never be taken seriously anyway. Perhaps the blows to the head he took while he was "playing" affected that ability? Or, he's just another internet troll that will eventually be flushed from the board. I'm going with the latter.

Dang...you must be old as me...in modern day America, just about anything passes for "acceptable grammar" among the young as long as one can be understood by someone else. If people are going to keep posting copies of tweets from players and recruits, I gotta do something to expand my universe. In fact, I've been thinking about signing up at the local Community College for a course of "Twitter Grammar" and maybe one on "Urban Lingo".

I refuse to dumb down to learn any "urban lingo". Twitter grammar is a bit different given the limited characters available. When posting here or any message board where you think your opinion could matter, to me, its important to use proper grammar, spelling and of course punctuation. When people post without it, they just come across as uneducated and/or trolls to me.
Being born a redneck, I'm somewhat willing to overlook language handicaps on chat boards and the like...but poor logic and bad manners?....now, that's unforgivable.

I can't overlook it when they think their opinion matters. Construct a sentence and a thought properly and I'll consider it. Fill it with misspelled words and grammatical errors and you won't be taken seriously in my book.

Willie, I appreciate your passion. That said I think your bias is clouding your objectivity. SW might not have the same stats as JJ, but as far as the team responding to a leader, they played a lot more engaged and focused with SW. His calmness in and out of the pocket are better than anything JJ has shown to date. I do think JJ has a huge upside, but to think SW doesn't is just wrong.

This^. Sean showed me a lot by the way he stood in a collapsing pocket and still delivered an accurate ball. Had our receivers not dropped so many of his passes this thread wouldn't exist. He's a gamer.

Receivers never messed up with Jeremy in? I doubt that

I don't think this claim was made in the post you're quoting.

All you really need to know is that if SW hadn't gotten hurt JJ wouldnt have seen the field except in mop up time. We can say whatever, but the coaches feel that SW gave AU a better chance to win.

That said, I don't expect to see SW play against ua

Let's see...

JJ last 3 starts averaged 118 yards passing per game

Sean Whites last 3 starts averaged I think 256 yards passing per game. Around 140 more yards per game and more than twice the total.

The fact that this is even a debate proves the intellect of a few. I hope JJ starts lighting it up, but until he does, this is a loaded debate not even worthy of discussion.

I'm sure the coaches will have an open position at QB (unless JJ or Sean does something crazy that warrants them the position within the next two games)

That being said, I feel like even if it was "up for grabs" it would still be Sean's to lose due to the coaching staffs' difference in the trust they have for the two players. And the fact that JJ must already practice really well.

JJ would have to do something HUGE on Saturday to win it all back

This actually does show the intellect of a few, no mention of quality of team or OT or playing from behind or anything like that...just cut and dry passing yards....lol funny stuff

The fact that you think that ONE stat is enough to base your argument on is laughable. There's way more to playing the QB position than just ONE statistic.

Actually it is a debate worthy of discussion. You aren't forced to participate.

The fact that you think only 1 statistic is my whole argument is laughable. I've laid the case out many times on this forum. I'm so tired of doing it that I am not doing it again. Those that still believe JJ has shown anything that makes him the best option at QB are, at this point, incapable of accepting anything else (and the same goes for the other side) so the debate...4 or 5 weeks later, looks exactly the same and has become pointless. Enjoy beating the dead horse. Hopefully JJ will actually play like an SEC qb against an elite D this weekend and make this discussion worthwhile.

Lol we are going to be having this debate until next season unless one or both of them transfer out

Until one of them isn't on campus, this debate will never end. There can be no more valuable additions to the debate until after the iron bowl. It's all been said already. I really hope JJ beats the #2 out of bama.

Sadly you are correct. At least we moved on from arguing about Sean White's height.
