Oh so Gt's offense is the problem now, well many would argue the offense was strength of GT in recent memory.

No, dumbass, it literally is a problem. They are 81st in the country in total offense (and a pathetic 123rd in the country in pass offense). They are 63rd in the country in scoring offense. That is mediocre to terrible no matter which way you look at it. By contrast, UNC is 10th in scoring (40.9 points per game) and 20th in total offense. When two defenses are basically even statistically, such a drastic difference in offensive performance will translate to very different overall win-loss records.

Damn, son, act like you can connect some dots.

Your making up a lot of excuses for Ted Roof, you must really miss the guy.

I don't miss anyone. I'm just pointing out facts while you post mindless nonsense and embarrass yourself more with every post.

Paul Rhoads did a much better job at Auburn than Ted Roof has ever done, in 2008 alone. I can argue that he went through more offensively than Roof ever has while coaching at Auburn. Tony Franklin was fired mid season and it was an absolute disaster.

I don't disagree with that, but it's also not the point. You're the one that got all bent out of whack when I showed you that stats on UNC vs GT this year. I'm sorry that reality doesn't match your presuppositions.

You don't disagree with this but it was my initial point. Remember, I wrote I'd rather see Paul Rhoads or Gene Chizik rather than Ted Roof. Thanks for agreeing with me Ancient Tiger that's all you should have done from the get go. I Win 💯💯💯😁😁😁

Chavis will be quite expensive btw..

Per Wikipedia

"A&M Edit

The day of LSU's 2014 Music City Bowl loss to Notre Dame, Chavis turned down a 3-year 5.4 million dollar[7] offer from Les Miles. That same day, it was reported that Chavis had accepted an offer from Texas A&M to take their then vacant defensive coordinator position.[8] He officially signed a contract to accept the position on February 12, 2015, which guaranteed him $1.5 million in 2015, $1.55 million in 2016 and $1.6 million in 2017, not including potential bonuses.[9]"

Has anything been mentioned about a buyout for Chavis or Diaz?

They need to add a year to the contract of Gus, it sends the message that there is some security to a potential DC. At least, he would have 2 years to fix a situation that will probably be worse next year (graduates/NFL departures) before we see any improvement.

Is that you Gus? :)/>

Double the buyout while you're at it.

At this point I have no clue who the DC will be. I will say I don't think it will be any of the 4 discussed the past couple of days. Diaz looks to be staying @ Miss St. As meta pointed out Grantham makes $1.4 mil @ Louisville & I don't see AU paying that much for him. Tom Allen seems to have lost steam. Lastly I don't see the PTB signing off on bringing Roof back.

So Chavis or Shannon then? Works for me ;D

Chavis reminds me of Sunny. No thanks. Randy Shannon is my #1 choice.

i could, absolutely, live with this,too....shannon is a good guy,too

But it's not the point you made when you responded to me. You got indignant that I would even suggest that Chizik and Roof had roughly equivalent results this year. I simply showed you the full stats on them.

You're an ignoramus. Please stop embarrassing yourself and everyone else in the fanbase.

Lance has experience as a DC and a ton of connections with def coaches in the South. All things considered him as DC with permission to bring in 2 new assistants is sounding better to me. He knows Muschamp's defense, he is an excellent recruiter and he wants the job. Am I way off=base here?

I don't want the Texas version of Diaz

They had a lot of other problems..imo, Diaz was a scapegoat. They needed a change and he was the easiest target.

Diaz has played us well over the years. I think he could really make an impact. And probably help Gus with the O. "When you ran the ball three straight times, I knew you were going to run a fourth"

He's a good recruiter as well from what I hear.

if he told him, do you think that coach doublebubble would do anything different?.....running the same play ,on first down, over and over and then wondering why your offensive production, on first down, is an average of 2 yards?......being stubborn eventually leads to being stupid

Haha. Probably not

If it is Lance Thompson, then why wait on the announcement. Is there some contract reason not to announce now? Or is it a tryout?

Going out on a limb and saying it's not going to be Thompson. It's probably a coach in bowl game yet to be played or NFL. Probably the former.

Around4ever, I'm pretty sure I read he wanted the job way earlier in the search. I honestly can't tell you exactly where I read it after reading so many updates and articles.

Back the truck up for Chavis. I live about an hour from CS, I will go help him pack if needed.

I'll meet you there.

Excellent! Who else wants to help!? :)/>

I am not sure that I really want any of the 4 mentioned in the 247 article. If I had to list from top to bottom of these 4 candidates, I would list them as follows:

1. Diaz

2. Grantham

3. Roof

4. Allen

The biggest drop off of these 4 would be Allen. The more I read about Allen, the less I like him as a viable candidate. I do not think any of these would be a great hire.

It's not just his buyout, but also that it involves aTm, which has almost as much revenue than AU and the UpDykes combined.

Also, JC is finishing his first season at aTm. He is not one to move often from school to school. He was at LSU for 6 seasons and 20 seasons at UT before his LSU stint. I don't see Sumlin being fired this season but if he were I'd think Chavis would have a shot at being HC at aTm.

I'm all for Chavis coming to AU, just don't see it happening.

Of the 4 I'd prefer Grantham. Hoping there's a #5.

Honestly, of those 4 I'd pick number 5. I'll support any of them if hired and hope like hell they turn out to be great hires, but won't expect much.

I'm all for Chavis coming to AU, just don't see it happening.

I seem to remember Chavis making it clear in past years that he has no desire to be a HC. I'll go see if I can dig up links or something.

I really do wish Gus would give Randy Shannon a call (who knows, maybe he has). He is proven and someone that could recruit the state of Florida very well. I think he would be respected by both coaches and players. I believe 100% effort would be given on the defensive side of the ball. Only getting paid $400,000 a year at Florida. We could double his salary with pay increases based on defensive performance and still be well below what we were paying WM. For all I know, maybe Gus has contacted Shannon and he turned it down. Sure hope its been explored.

I've said the same. I think Shannon would be a HUGE get for us.

Awwww so I'm suppose to cry because you try to insult me. Just admit it, your comparison between Chizik and Roof was ignorance. The records speak for themselves, who cares about any other stats. By the way, I can care less about who likes me, this isn't a pageant my friend I'm just an Auburn fan . Your insults want omit the fact that you don't know football.
