I know this has been mentioned and has its own thread but man I'm excited about this Austin Davis hire. Might help us close on some of these OL/RB targets that aren't signing until February. The guy is like 33 with meaningful NFL experience.

Sorry!  Estate tax what I do for a living so I nerded out a little there.

Back to our recruiting!

Haha, I don't know how you do it but I am glad there are people like yourself that can do it. m Federal Income Tax was my least favorite course in law school.  I am in construction defect litigation so I am a very "the numbers... what do they mean, Mason" kinda guy.  My specialty is persuasive writing/legal analysis, as soon as you add numbers, percentages, hotchpots/subhotchpots into statutory analysis my brain just shuts down completely.  I am honestly still amazed I made a B in Tax.

7 years as a backup QB in the NFL shows a deep understanding of NFL scheme and he did it for a ton of different teams so that is a lot of front office guys signing off on him being the guy if their starter goes down.  Plus, since this is his first OC gig, he will likely have a mentor/mentee relationship with Harsin which means we will have him as OC for at least four years with him probably starting to call plays in year 2-3.

It was very smart of the coaches to keep the recruiting expectations so low that the fan base is giddy with a top 15 class even though we haven’t addressed the biggest need.
Someone remind me who else used to always get too 10 classes without O-linemen.

That's how it's drawn up at least, I hope...

I’m old enough to remember when we expected to not only be on a level playing field with Bama and UGA but we expected to be better than them. And guess what, they had a ton of talent back then too. Maybe that’s not what AU fans want or expect anymore but if it is, we are going to have to start playing a lot dirtier and working a lot harder to get our share of the OL and DL talent.  I personally think that means actively recruiting players from other teams rosters(including Bama and UGA’s).  We need to have middle men reach out to every potential transfer that we want and offer them lucrative NIL deals.  That is the only we we can use this née rule to level the playing field and get back to a place where we can expect to win SEC championships on an annual basis like we did in the late 80s.  If we don’t, we may catch lightning in a bottle once every 7 or 8 years and make it to the SECCG but that’s about the best we can hope for when we’re playing with less talent and depth.

No crow to be cooked up yet. All who signed were expected to sign, which is good. Whether there are any big surprises out there remains to be seen.

We're you a firefighter? Good of you to throw water on the fire. The staff is going an amazing job and there are some on here that said they couldn't recruit. Too bad some folks were apparently hoping for a lackluster day just to keep up the rhetoric.

Just listened to a 5 minute video from Jimbo on the TAMU class...longevity with a staff is critical.  He mentioned that he 1st talked to one of the guys they signed today at the end of his 8th grade year.  If we land this class in the top 15; it is yeoman's work by Harsin and staff and all the nay-sayers should have their balls slammed between two bricks.

What was up with that one scene in casino royale..... towards the end (nsfw? gifs) | ResetEra

Well gosh, why don't you get on the phone with Coach Harsin right now and tell him! I'm sure he hasn't thought of any of this...

I try and remain reasonable and cautiously optimistic and will almost always be excited about NFL hires.  CFB is all about guys getting into the NFL.

I think it’s fine to have disagreements among the fanbase about coaches, players, etc.

But if you truly wish for the program to fail just so you can say “I told you so” you’re not a fan. You’re just a troll.

My two-cents.

Regarding the Offensive Line

I understand the complaints and issues. There is some plan in place for the OL otherwise we wouldn't pass on guys like Agbo and let dudes like Anez Cooper sit in the wings. It just so happens a lot of OL guys we're in a solid spot for aren't signing until February.

If, at the end of February, we don't have a decent group of OL then I will be right there with you in the concerned camp. There are still a number of OL who won't hit the portal until after their bowl game as well. It is hard but be patient. Some of the negative nancies didn't want to believe me that our class would go this well months ago and here we are.

Be patient. If Will Friend really can't do better than this we know damn well Harsin will boot him for someone who can.

They need to go look at Florida's class right now and compare it to how Harsin closed last years class.

Yeah but it’s obvious Napier was a better choice than Harsin.
