JUCO OT Seth Wilfred commits to Auburn after OV

Fresh off an official visit, Wilfred committed to Auburn.

Fresh off his official visit, Seth Wilfredannounced his commitment to Auburn Monday. Wilfred is a JUCO offensive tackle from Snow College in Utah, with four years to play three once he enrolls in January.

Wilfred was also considering Houston and Iowa State, but offensive line coach Jake Thornton and Hugh Freeze are the winners for Wilfred.

"Coming to Auburn, it’s an amazing place. The community here, the atmosphere here, the people that live here, it’s a really great place," Wilfred said after his official visit. "We toured the facilities, met some of the players here, got to meet with the head coach, Coach Freeze, the offensive line coach, Coach Thornton, nothing but good information here.

Nice. Not sure if this guy is a day 1 starter or not, but the fact that he can play 3 years and redshirt if necessary is great. Almost like getting a HS kid, but with some JUCO experience. I'll take it.

I know with his offers being Arizona St, Houston, Iowa St and AU you would think it's an automatic for us to get him but with him being from Las Vegas, I don't think it was a given. Those other 3 are Big 12 schools so you just never know what these young guys may do. So I see this as a definite win. Beating out other power5 schools for an O-Lineman that has 4 yrs to play 3. That's a win in my book. I trust Coach Freeze and Coach Thornton's evaluations and I know that Coach Thornton has a track record of coaching up his linemen. Whether Seth gets much playing time or not here at AU, we always need the depth in the trenches.
