Former LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux told The Birmingham News today

that he will sign with Jacksonville State University, looking for a

second chance to prove himself.

The Associated Press

LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux reacts after receiving his Most Valuable Player trophy after a 21-14 win over Tennessee in the 2007 SEC Championship football game at the Georgia Dome. With two years of eligibility remaining, the 6-foot-2, 222-pound player will transfer to Jacksonville State of the Ohio Valley Conference, where he is expected to gain immediate playing time.

"Basically, I just see this as a second opportunity to be successful," said

Perrilloux, who was dismissed from the team by LSU head coach Les Miles

for repeated rules violations.

JSU coach Jack Crowe and school President William Meehan "are

helping me with this. They are behind me l00 percent."

Perrilloux said he visited only two schools during his

second recruitment - Jacksonville State and Alabama A&M.

"I am excited that it's over and I can begin to move forward," he said.

See Thursday's Birmingham News for more details.

Wouldn't he have been a better "fit" for west vance?

Can one human eat THAT much ice cream?

I was thinking he would have been a better fit for Alabama State. No reason necessary.

Well Crowe at JSU has lost my respect, I bet RP gets in trouble before the summer is over.

If he stays out of trouble and puts up big numbers he will still get drafted in the Nfl.

Yeah, and if he cures cancer, he'll probably win a Nobel Prize, but I wouldn't call it likely.

Yeah, I kinda think it's a long shot, but if he keeps his nose clean, he'll get drafted no question. He's insanely talented (I mean I saw a replay of that throw at the SEC Championship... my goodness, what an arm), and the league finds talent. Both he and LSU lost out. LSU lost a stud that could absolutely carry them, and RP lost a chance to get better by playing against guys that could challenge him AND lost the chance to display his gifts on national TV. It'll all be worth it if he gets his life together though.

Maybe Jack can teach him how to run the wishbone. Oh, excuse me, how not to run the wishbone. If he could waste Bo (a real Heisman winner) he can certainly waste Mr. "I'm gonna win 4 Heisman's before I leave LSU".

He will stay clean for a short while and then get into trouble

If he does seem to stay out of trouble AND does well, I expect him to blow that success on some big drinking/drugs night

He is still a very talented QB but it is ashame to see him waste it

He can do all things!
