The chances of KM committing before JR is slim so it's a mute point.

:P

Thanks. I did not know if the spelling was different.

Just as you shouldn’t confuse metal with medal due to seemingly similar meanings, you should avoid confusing mute and moot too.   ;D ;D :tease: :tease: ;D ;D

Well i had never seen moot spelled before til now since it is such a rarely used word smarty pants. lol

bird in the hand, baby!  will happily take whoever commits first amongst those two, and take the other down the road if he wants to come.  we will keep the door open for a handful of select recruits up till signing day ... goldman, diggs, KM, Peat, (DGB, Spence  :))

THIS^^^! t and his "mustache eagle" are right on point!

hey mods ... is it to late to change my name from "t" to the "mustache eagle" ... seems more 70's porn kinda manly!

You can change it anytime you want...or I can do it for you!

UGA at this point can promise an immediate starting position at RB to KM!  Beside IC they have nothing as of today.  JR gonna look good in O&B.

That would be great. I'm pretty sure this guy will be a 5 star by the end of his senior season. (That is, for the couple of lameos on here that are into star ratings (like me)).

I disagree. He plays in one of the worst states for high school football so unfortunately the rating services will under rate him a bit unless he gets to prove himself against better competition in the all star season.

Gotta defend my home state here.  Compared to Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia, high school football is not as good right now.  But one of the worst; not by a longshot.  If you like, I'll be happy to list Tennessee high school products who have been major contributors on our team, as well as many on our schedule.  Two of the top ten RBs in the country come from Memphis, Tennessee.  Both could become 5*s with outstanding senior seasons.

I only include the south in my statement because lets face it, nothing outside the south, except for Cali, really matters for high school football. So when I sat Tennesse is the Worst I mean in the South.

No Texas ?

Texas is in the South, DUH! lol Silly Yada Yada

Geographically. Culturally, it's a whole other country. Can't even get a decent cornmeal mix in the grocery stores here! Maybe in East Texas would be different ....  :'(

I'm sorry I just feel like we need to take KM more than anyone else. I've been saying that all along and I will maintain that all year and for years to come. Keith Marshall has world class speed and I think he's the fastest recruit this year. With that said, JR looks like he'll be very very good himself. I'm just partial to KM is all. Either way, I think Auburn will be great in the area of running backs as it has been so many times.

Harry Adams had world class speed, too. I was so infatuated with his potential that I basically ignored another guy in his class with the same last name: Darvin.

Sometimes a player's talent doesn't translate so well to the college field. Honestly, I think Marshall will be great, but Auburn has speed, power, and all around already locked up for the future in Grant, Yeldon, and Mason/Blakely. I didn't include Dyer because he's already become the present, even if he will be here for another couple of years.

Because of all of that, at this point, I don't think we go after KM, provided Robinson commits soon. That would give us some leeway for recruiting more of a speed type back next year, since we wouldn't have one in this year's class. :dunno:

I will disagree with that premise.  You don't walk away from a talent like KM.  You recruit him until he says no thanks.  No shame if he does choose another school.  It was an uphill fight from the start.  But going down with no fight is not the AU way.

I agree with you Red in Marshall will probably end up at UGA but in my opinion, he is the best RB no matter who signs him. Harry Adams was very small but super fast in the mold of PPL and Brian Kimbrow. Those type players often stay injured in SEC competition due to their lack of bulk. You have a few exceptions to the rule as with the Ole Miss RB a few years back. No way is Marshall in the same class with those guys because he bigger and every bit as fast. He has a full year of high school for his body to mature even more. He graduates early from high school, and that gives him a early jump in the weight and conditioning program in the school of his choice. That alone gives him another advantage for early success on a collegiate level. David Oku struggled at TN also because of his lack of size.

What I meant was that we don't put on the full court press like we would have otherwise. I get the feeling that he's leaning elsewhere, and while we will certainly still recruit him, my point is that we're good regardless. A talent? Yes. Too much to walk away from? No. We are Auburn. If he wants to go to Georgia, that's fine. And we'll keep in touch so that if he changes his mind and decides he wants to come to Auburn, we'll open up a spot if at all possible, because he is a great talent.

But look at AU's list of signees the last couple of years. It's littered with great talents. And our commitment list is too. This train is moving, and it's not going to wait for just anybody...

And I am just saying I don't think our coaches will recruit him any less, at least I hope they don't.  If he chooses thUGA then I am going to assume he just liked them or their RB situation better.  I am not going to say, we didn't want him anyway, because I don't think that will be true.

Anyway I agree we have some great talent.  I think Mike Blakely was the best HS RB in the country last season.  I think Mason will be valuable to the success of this season (if he qualifies).  I think JR would be the best H-Back we have seen under Gus if he commits to AU. I think Bray could be the next OMAC if they don't move him to WR.  But I think Marshall and Blakely have the potential to be as good as Bo and Brent and JR could be their Tommie Agee.  Only this time we would have a down field passing game to compliment the running game.  Grant will make a fine DB if he is willing.  The Alabama coaches watched him and decided that he was no Dee Hart at RB or as a return man and he should move to DB which is why he is now a walk on at Auburn.  I don't think he is a Mike Blakely or Keith Marshal either because I think both are better than Hart so he will probably have to make a decision again one day.

KM will probably make the NFL despite going to UGA and not being used properly just like the other 5 star RBs they sign every season.  At AU Keith Marshall would become a household name, another great name forever remembered and praised along with the other legends of Running Back U.

Mark Richt is under a lot of pressure to win this season. He is definitely on the "Hot Seat". How would any of Georgia's commits react if Richt is canned at the end of the season? Auburn would be making a huge mistake to give up on Marshall with over 7 months until signing day. I don't think they will because Coach Luper has been all over this kid since Day 1.

KM may be a great talent...but we have McCalebb (JR speed), Morgan (JR speed), Dyer (SO bruiser), Mason (FR speed), Blakely (FR speed), and Grant (FR speed).  That's 6 backs that should be on the team in 2012, most of whom are speed guys.  By comparison...we had 3 tailbacks last year.  We have a lot of backs who are speed guys.  Yeldon is a bruiser.  Getting another big guy with moves would be my top pick.  Robinson is really agile for a big guy.

Besides, if UGA isn't squandering the talents of running backs...we lose something to dog them on. :)

KM is the closest thing i've seen to Brent Fullwood since he played here. I remember Coach Luper saying before BCW, his #1 goal is to sign the top recruiting class in 2012, and it's gonna take players like Marshall, Diggs, Goldman, G Smith, Shanks, and Alexander to accomplish that. Maybe not all but most of them for that to happen.

Harry Adams, while not bulky, wasn't that small.  He was around 6 feet and 180-190lbs., which is a respectable size for a collegiate WR/DB.  He was much larger than guys like McCluster and PPL.

Keith Marshall is somebody that just doesn't come around much. The kid is not that small like you guys are trying to say and with Auburn's weight program this kid would be a beast.
