I just want the defense to not be worse than the offense is good like we saw last year.

It won't be, we have will muschamp, not cej, Nuff Said

I'm not sure there is a thread on here that doesn't have A4E and his JJ bashing or you and your CEJ schtick polluting it. Get over it. We all know where you stand, there is no need for either of you to keep reminding us. Please quit.

Hit a sore spot huh? U were one of CEJ's biggest supporters so I understand you are still grieving. I'm over it, I'm just not over the worst AU records on defense ever yet, or the natty that was in our hands that was gift wrapped to fsu because of you know who

Seems to be a bigger sore spot for you. I was also one of Johnson's biggest supporters, but I'm not grieving for his loss. The only thing that saddens me is how much the vast majority of the Auburn fan base is going to have the same opinion you do, failing to recognize the abject lack of fundamental defensive play CEJ inherited.

I still maintain that he did far more for the shape of Auburn's defense than he will ever get amongst the fan base purely by priming them so well for the next guy. Johnson was the old school coach who taught sound fundamentals, and with those in place as the foundation, bringing in Boom should be enough to ignite the fire under a much more prepared group of players.

Ask southern miss. how they feel about cej, it's not a sore spot for me. I'm just not willing to accept mediocre coaching just because he's on AU's staff, like u and others. He used to be a good coach, keyword used to be

Southern Miss had him as a head coach. If you don't understand the significance in differences between HC and DC, you really don't belong in this conversation to begin with. But okay, how about asking Steve Spurrier and South Carolina what they think of him.

Now, you can spew your rhetoric about how much I'm willing to accept mediocrity, underscoring your lack of knowledge about me (or my issues with the defense since Tubs left), but perhaps you missed the part of my reply where I said I'm not grieving the loss. It isn't that I think he's a better coach than Boom, or even that I think he was the right coach for Auburn going forward.

Rather, my point is that his old school mentality was necessary for setting the solid fundamental foundation that had been lost while Chizik was the head coach. Your point is that Johnson has gone senile and no longer belongs around football. Which one seems more reasonable?

Lets get back to the expectation for the defense. If not it will be time to LOCK IT........................

Apologies, I responded before reading the two pages after that response to me.

However, I don't think it is too far off base to mention Johnson, considering we're talking about the improvement from his tenure (which ended after last season) into that of CWM, starting this year. As a matter of fact, my own opinion is that the combination of the two is going to be an outstanding combination. Johnson taught the fundamentals the players had been lacking; Muschamp brings the spark to light the fire under the D. :dunno:

I mean a majority of this stuff are opinions so there won't be any proving anybody wrong one way or the other. Imo Johnson sucked, I don't know if he can still coach or not but me was horrible...that being said we 6 you need a hug or something, just let it go. I think I understand why you keep going on and on more than anybody. You got disrespected for your opinion by some guys who turned out not being as smart as they thought....You need to realize the way you handle it pretty much eliminating anybody ever noticing this....

I look forward to having a defensive coach that will say ok this isn't working let's try doing so and so....instead of if you get on that horse you got to ride it!

I appreciate your comments cole, and they are true. But I think as a whole we all need a hug or something because at some point or time everyone that has made an oppinion has gotten disrespected by someone who thought they were smarter than the next man. I too am looking forward to will muschamp's defense, WDE

TIME OUT - give it a break pleaze....

(Didn't you claim to be done several pages ago !!!!)

And Rednilla what good does it do for half of us to have ignored him... If you keep with the nonstop quoting of his nonstop drivel. Cause I kinda have to hate to ignore you too, but the bromance is not all that entertaining (as some duo's are).

Ok so starting now it's over. Now this coming season depending on the some freshmen I think we'll be better. I wanted to hear more praise about frost and cass but maybe that's by design

I'll never understand why we hire a guy who coached at Southern Miss for just one year and posted an 0-12 record that year and he becomes our DC. Very strange.

I said early on in the thread that I expect the D to be top 5 in the league. Now, I'll add that I'd expect us to hold opponents to under 25 points per game. Do that, and we win a lot of games.

I believe in Boom's ability to turn a defense around. And with some pass rushers added to the arsenal and coming from all directions in his defense, everyone will benefit. I believe we'll be highly entertained this year by our D.

I don't know enough about defense, and our personell in relation to Muschamp's scheme to know what a realistic expectation is. All I know is that without a pass rush, its going to be hard to improve in any significant way. If Lawson can stay healthy, and we have a couple other guys step up in the pass rush, the rest of our defense is going to improve dramatically. Without a pass rush, I think we only see marginal improvement. Thats my opinion.

Or maybe the coaches are waiting for one of them to actually accomplish something worthy of praise. Upcoming 5th year for Frost, 4th for Cass. It's now or never.

Could be but I'm going to hope for the best, feel free to view it the way you want to

It will take a few games for them to really be in rhythm but hopefully they have learned how to tackle the guy with the football...

As a long time Auburn fan, I have mixed feelings. I feel like an experimental rat (fan) who has been exposed to repeated high expectations only to receive an electrical shock.

No Skinner box here. Besides, shocking them is less effective than intermittent positive reinforcement.
