Saban treats his staff and players like crap.  I don't like the guy.  That's my opinion.  I've talked to Alabama fans who despite the fact of his record, don't like his coaching approach.  No doubt Saban's record at UAt has been good, but overall outside the SEC his coaching record has been less than stellar.  He tried to take the same coaching philosophy to the NFL and it failed miserably.  The staff and players would not put up with his crap.

I find this extremely hard to believe.

Does he win? Does he do it within the rules? Does he break the law?

The answer I want from my head football coach is yes on those.

huh? You want a head coach that breaks the law?

Could have. Still better than Pearl actually getting his employer in trouble.

That wasn't due to anything Petrino did though.  He was the reason for the risk. Arky either just got lucky or she got rich and was more ashamed than vindictive. Probably both.

It has nothing to do with being mean. It has to do with him being a f***ing jerk that doesn't represent the Auburn creed.

Most Alabama fans I talk to think he is the best coach to ever walk the earth other than Bear. They also think he is passionate about teaching his players about life after football so the douchebag side of Saban is always ignored by the bammer sheep. What Bama fans do you talk to?

I agree with you that most Bama think that.  However, a couple of Bama friends I've talked to have at expressed their displeasure of how he treats his staff and players.  Not saying that they don't like the fact he wins games, just that they were not happy with his approach

Sorry, I've had a few. I want my coach to win without breaking rules or the law.

I dont have to like people on the personal level to appreciate their greatness in a specific field.     Many MANY great people in their fields are not likable.    Greatness takes up so much of you that it leaves very little for other things in life  like being well rounded.     Well rounded people are average.

The difference is, Pearl actually got his employer in trouble while Petrino MAY have gotten his employer in trouble. Auburn has embraced Pearl and yet feel Petrino is beneath them. The word you're looking for is, sanctimonious.

Cole Cubelic tweeted that Gus calls the plays....... so my friend its the "Offensive Guru" calling the shots....

I never that I would hate Gus this much, been a supporter for a long time, but cannot digest what just happened today after giving him the benefit of doubt for the clemson game

He's always called the shots. People calling for Rhett need to just let that go. They should know the set up by now when it comes to the father / son duo.

that'd be interesting though. Having a coach who Instead of being escorted by the police into the stadium, would have to spend games running from them.

A nice change of pace.

It would probably be the best offense we've seen in 2 years ;)

I would put money on the fact that if AU hired Petrino and we won a NC, that those who hate BP would still not miss the chance to celebrate it and would immediately go out and but a NC sticker for their back car window.

I'm saying....see if you can grasp this....that Petrino was just lucky that Arky was able to slither out of that mess. He had NO PART in that luck.  NONE. Bruce was not in the same type of trouble.  What Bruce did was not even in the same realm of sleaze and embarrassment. You can't compare adultery and putting your employer  at risk of a messy lawsuit  to making too many phone calls and having a recruit as a dinner guest. Not even close...

Then you are the only one embarrassed. Auburn should not hire a piece of trash like Petrino. I don't care how many games he wins. He is an awful person. No one like that should ever coach for Auburn.

I hope he never sets foot in AU again.

Luck had nothing to do with it. Arkansas, like Auburn would, paid a mistress to keep her mouth shut. I don't care that Petrino had a piece on the side. I'll give you the point that he'd probably still be at Arky if he owned up and admitted to it. I'd wager good money, he wouldn't make the same mistake.

I won't watch a Petrino coached Auburn team. I get the feeling there are others that feel this way. What that awful man stands for is everything counter to what auburn stands for. I know it may feel to some like we've lost our way, but that to me would truly be the biggest sign that we have.

When did Auburn pay a mistress to keep her mouth shut?  Which coach?
