INJURY updates...who is really in the "know"?

Not in the know any longer but I'm hearing Lawson is 50/50 and will be a game time decision.

He's got a 3 week injury. If he plays this week he may miss another few weeks afterwards. Hip flexors are very prone to re injury if not properly healed. I'd rather him get healthy and help us win next week. Wasn't expecting him to play this week. Next week may still be up

In the air honestly. Was hoping it was a minor hip flexor which can take a week or 2...but it's not appearing to be the case.

....and you know this how ?

Sorry. Don't know for sure. Didn't mean to sounding I have some secret info. Just my best educated take on the topic, and going off of what has been said and reported.

And, it doesn't hurt that ptb agrees ;D

If we can at least get Mr. Matthews back in game condition, this would really help. I hate the possibility of Mr. Lawson not playing. I do not want him playing unhealthy with the risk of making the injury worse and keeping him out for several weeks.

Mr. Cowart has been playing well, and should contribute con Saturday. I hope the rest of the defense can play a super game and give this team a much needed win. I hope that the rest of our defense will take the field healthy and ready to take it to LsU.

If JJ struggles, Gus really needs to let Sean White show his stuff.

I agree with you Doc. Nothing else to do but wait it out. And regardless of "who plays or doesn't get to play", CGM should turn the Offense and Defense loose to have some fun.

FUN is needed. I'm not sure these kids have had much fun yet considering all of the preseason hype that surrounded the team. I hope they play loose and let it go!

I hope it doesn't come to it but wouldn't it be an awesome story if JW had to come in for whatever reason and just went off on LSU....I'm talking Hollywood type stuff. :hellyeah:/>

You mean like almost every 2nd teamer we forced into action or true freshman does when they light up our D ?

That'd be sweet

I'm not so sure they haven't been turned loose. Why the results haven't been more impressive is another question entirely.

According to what I was told he could've played last week but it was a precaution but also a little bit of "show". Based on who told me this (when I downright asked) I trust it 100%. Not just a random "source". I believe Carl and Tray will play this week

This is along the lines of what I heard too.

I know......my first post ever on here but look for a surprise starter at LB tomorrow.

And the name of the player is?

Wade Christopher

He'll also be starting at DT, DE FS, SS and CB. I fear for LSU's safety now.

This game just turned into a cakewalk.

Sources say: As of today, Lawson is a "game time decision." If I was betting I would say he is out another week at the least. I am of the opinion that he should not come back this week. Trey...well, if you've read my posts there seems to be a few opinions on his options and prognosis, so I would call him 50-50 this week. As in Carls injury last year, this staff is very difficult to predict in their forthcomingness. Everyone else is a go...except Holsey of course.

Per a poster on another site, it does not appear that Lawson is traveling with the team. Guess that would answer the Lawson question. Looks like you are correct.

Hope he gets well soon.

Of course, nobody knows for sure...

Of course you always want your best players on the field. But is it end of the world if we are without our best pass rusher against a team that passes so little? I'd feel better about him being closer to 100% against MSST.

For his sake, he doesn't need to play until he's healthy.

For the team's sake, we need to stop using Carl's absence as an excuse. We have literally used his absence as an excuse for poor play for one full season and two games now. We all know what he brings to the field. He can be a reason for enhanced play, but his absence cannot be an excuse for poor play. Our players need to step it up. Leaders need to lead. Young guys need to grow up.

He's also far superior to the other guys against the perimeter run game. If you want to ruin your Friday, go back and watch Gimel President try to defend the power read.

Lawson's absence does not give us an excuse to have a bad defense, but you don't just shrug off losing a generational talent like him, particularly on a very young defense going into an extraordinarily hostile environment. Not only is he a monster on the field, but he's one of our strongest leaders off it. What was the sound bite from our defensive leader when asked about Louisville's offense? "No comment." What'd we get this week? "No problem." I don't really think Ford's comment was a big deal, but I certainly preferred Lawson's.

We've put a lot of DEs in the NFL the last 10 years or so, and Lawson might be quite a bit better than any of them. It's okay to be upset that he might be missing his 15th game in 2 seasons, a game that just happens to be one of the most important we'll play all season. If he does sit, then it sucks, and it sucks pretty badly.

Carl isn't just our best pass rusher. He was also better against the run, and more importantly, his absence makes us play at least one guy that shouldn't be on the field. We're not particularly deep at DE. I'd say (including Lawson), we have four SEC caliber guys that can play on any given down (not specialist). If we're including specialists, Holland gooses the number to five because he's been fantastic as a situational rusher. Four with a situational fifth is the right number. Three with a fourth is too few. We play five whether Lawson is there or not, and we're not getting anywhere near acceptable play from the extra guy(s) in the rotation.

Add in the fact that Lawson creates explosive plays. Even saying the DE play is SEC caliber without him, Holland is the only guy on the edge (other than Lawson) that has shown the ability to repeatedly disrupt plays, and he doesn't really do it against the run. It's a big loss against a team that wants to wear out our DL.

Even if still injured, why wouldn't he travel with the team? That doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

Maybe a long ride to Baton Rouge is not a good idea for someone with a hip flexor strain...especially if he said it only hurts when he is sitting still.

Since we don't have any confirmation on whether this is true or not we are just spinning our wheels anyway.
