Is Freeze really that great of an option? His highlights were one 9 win season and one 10 win season at Ole Miss but he never reached an SEC championship. He won 5 games in his last season. He was then fired for calling escort services from his school phone and for having major NCAA violations.

If he had Urban Meyer's win history then maybe but for one 10 win season in five years and that was because he bought several top 5 star players? Not worth it to me.

Bruce Pearl had kids over to a cookout and lied about it. That should not have been a violation in the first place.

Yes. He has legitimately won every where he has been and beat Saban twice (Something some of you guys loved about CGM). There was a reason why NS wanted him as OC.  UM? Are you serious clark? UM is possibly one of the three superstar coaches in the NCAA alive. That is a silly comparison. Any team in the nation safe Alabama or Clemson would take him. I am talking realistic options. Not UM and Dabo.

Well Harsin is apparently a complete a**hole, so maybe we tried something different this time.  🤣

I feel like you either hate him or love him, which is not good.

SEC wasn't letting us hire Freeze at that time regardless.

This is true. Also why NS couldn't get him.

I totally forgot about NS not being able to hire him. Well I can’t blame them for that, but if this hire is that bad then who do we hold responsible. Does AG survive if he made the hire?

I dunno. He seems to get credit for CBP, so that might be his saving grace, tbh.

I’m good with giving him a pass strictly with how we handled the BP situation.

Nah.  We're a football school in the end.

It's just more bad press after more bad press.  NSD on Wednesday looks to be a disaster.  More bad press.  I've always been a supporter of Harsin, but this really feels like everything is just unravelling.

I feel the same way. At this point, I'm expecting a 6 or 7 win season at best and for us to be searching for a new coach. Which sucks because whomever we hire, it's likely going to take double the amount of time to get us back to where we can contend.

I'm just going to enjoy other AU sports b/c getting worked up about our football program is seriously not good for my health. I'll always support but my expectations will not be high at all. I was initially excited about Harsin. It's just a huge mess at the moment. If he somehow gets 8 wins or more out of this mess, i'd be back in support.

I wasn't really making a comparison. I was saying with his transgressions at Ole Miss, he would need to have had a history of Meyer type success for me to be able to overlook it. I don't feel like his history is worth it.

that's fair. I just took it the other way when you asked is he really that good and cited his 5 win season. When the GOAT coach tries to hire you despite your past transgressions early on, that is very telling.

Sooo who is the next OC? Who could Harsin hire that would smooth all this over? Does that guy exist?

Yes he is already on the staff. It will just be Eric.

Cool looks like a nice layout

GL is an amazing course and not for the faint at heart.

It’s beautiful. Fairways are friendly for the most part and the greens are really challenging. Have to be on the right level of the green to have any chance of holing a putt. Can’t really be above the hole with any pin location.

Everytime I think I am good at golf I go play GL and get humbled. There is another course in Guntersville that is nice. I believe it's the state park course. Not GL nice, but a fun course none the less.

State park is fun. It’s just not the same after a tornado took out all the trees about 10 years ago

This embarrassment for our football program has got to stop.  It is to the point where we are desensitized right now when we see another player is transferring or assistant coach quitting.

Man, we really need something, anything positive to come out of the football program.   I am not sure as a coach if you could have a more difficult couple of months here.  I still think Harsin has the right vision for the program, but if he can make it happen is looking more and more challenging.  I just hope that he learns from these mistakes and rights the ship. Quickly, for all of our health!

Hate to say it but I'm right back to Gus levels of apathy. There's just too much good going on in the world of sports elsewhere, Auburn and beyond. The contrast is actually startling.

My confidence has been downgraded to hope.

I know we like to boast on Phillip Marshall (I know I love to), but he finally made a good post in a long time.

PM basically said that Harsin and the coaching staff has stonewalled all the reporters who cover the FB program since the Birmingham Bowl so they actually don’t have much info on anything going on. — Which I thought was a nice step in telling people “we don’t know **** either.”

FWIW, I think Harsin isn’t built to be a head ball coach in a part of the country where football is everything. He doesn’t “owe” it to anybody to keep insiders or give inside info, but there’s a part of building relationships as a football coach in Auburn, Alabama and he doesn’t seem to have done well in this aspect. Part of the job is “playing the game”; he doesn’t seem to want to “play the game” but just go about his business, which doesn’t seem to be going the right direction.

I personally hate this comparison as well, but CBP did a fantastic job of building relationships and laying down the groundwork of getting the town, the university, and the reporters getting behind him (I.e Hokanson for the basketball program)

Unfortunate yes but at the same time if the rumors are true he’s being offered an OC position in the NFL is anyone really shocked?

I personally think it’s kind of building like a snowball rolling down a mountain for years. It feels like we have just been hanging on by the skin of our teeth for a long time and it’s finally out of control. I’m not really saying losing AD is that big of a deal, it’s just the optics that keep getting worse.
