Saban or any other coach at 5* stocked school only has to play to an already inflated ego. Basically if you think you're the best come here and prove it. If you're scared off by the depth chart we don't want you anyway.

We will get our share of top recruits. But for many, and maybe tre is one of them, we have to look good on Saturdays first. When that happens and it will happen we will recruit an abundance of top players

There's the key. If we can have a good season, say a minimum of 8 wins and keep the losses close we'll recruit very well. Win 6 and get blown out by UAT and UGA and Auburn will be a tough sell.

As noted, 5* players don't think about depth charts, they believe they will beat everybody else out and play immediately. They have done that their entire lives and they don't think that can change.

I got blasted for stating this fact several weeks ago, not by you though. There are many of these top players that would love to go anywhere other than bammer. Currently sabear is the BMOC. When we show them they will get better coaching at AU, we will be getting 50%+ of our top targets like they currently do. We saw with the last staff that AU is capable of signing the best. We will see what happens when you can coach them as well in 2013! Gus is going to make Chiz & Co look like bed-wetters when he develops all our recruiting "busts" into All-SEC talent.

There's enough talent to go around, and Auburn has gotten a lot of it in the past. AU just has to find a way to "retain" that talent, develope them and train them to execute at a SEC level with consistancy. AU has got a lot of work to do to prove that we can be consistant contenders in this conference.

Amen. I really feel good about this staff. They seem to have the ability to right the wrongs of Chiz & Co. PM at 247 recently pointed out that we could have had the WR from Vandy, Matthews, if Chiz had listened to Phillip Lolley and I don't doubt that fact. Would he be getting ready to break a bunch of SEC receiving records though if CTT had been his position coach? Doubtful, we are going to see this year how good our WR's are with a little coaching.

Terrel Zachary, Marvin Adams and that guy who graduated this year, Blake something or another...all say hello. If you really want to put the blame on lack of production offensively there are plenty of position coaches to call out. How much time did the O Line give the QB to set up in the pocket and make accurate throws? In spite of the O Line, Tre Mason had a productive year. The QB coach(s) should have had our QB's able to adjust to the speed of the rush and be able to read the Defense. The Head Coach should have let the Asst Coaches do their job without having been such a control freak.Who knows maybe that Matthews kid would have been better than Emory Blake, even though EB wasn't projected to be much more than a second or third option by a lot of recruiting "experts"... Not trying to start something but just wanted to point out that it takes the whole team working together to be successful. If one unit doesn't preform then they all look bad, ESPECIALLY the O Line and QB....War Eagle and happy football day in 1 day

Gonna be honest this is going to be a tough pull. St. Paul's is a bammer breeding ground and this is actually one player I have inside info on and know for a fact his locker is decked out with bammer gear... Now with that said Dameyune Craig can recruit Mobile pretty darn well so I would not be surprised if we pulled this kid but right now I just don't see it happening. However signing day 2014 is a LONG way away so I don't see a reason to get worked up either way.

Would love to see him in orange and blue though

Tre might have grown up as a uat fan but I do know that Tre does not like Saben. I think Tre is AU bound sooner that later.

He's a '14 prospect, how much personal contact has the kid had with Saben thusfar?

Considering Saban's tactics, I'm sure they've bumped into each other in the parking lot a few dozen times.

If he is a cheater and does this why don't some of you that live in those areas BUMP into him. If he doesn't follow the rules why should you?

Just because he does something wrong, doesn't mean we have to.

We need Tre and Roc to "see the light"! They could provide the added umph! that we need if they committed early. It would still be a battle but could cause another big name or two to step up. A-Day really was a plus and the impact along with a good fall is all it will take IMO to secure the type of class we need. I really have faith in this staff and their ability to evaluate then coach up "their" players.

Tre and or Roc committing early to Auburn would be nice but would not have much of an impact on other recruits IMO. Normally I am a firm believer that seasons do not have much of an impact on a current signing class. This is one of those exceptions IMO. Many recruits are cool on Auburn right now until they see things turned around on the field. If we win 7 or 8 and are competitive in all games then recruits will take notice and take a good look at Auburn.

I agree. Regardless where some of these top recruits commit now, if we have a respectable season (7, 8, 9 wins) while showing good improvement, this staff will be able to get some of these early commits to flip and get our share of undecideds to come on board.

Oh I agree completely, as I stated it would still be a battle and depend on the 2013 season but with those two heading up the O & D for the 2014 class it could only help! Good players want to play with other good players. I don't care if they have 6*'s, if they are afraid of competition we don't want them. I think we need a bare minumum of 7 wins, 8 would be better, 9 would be not so bad either.

Coach Dye won 5 games his initial year, but the '81 team did not bow to anyone. Recruits took note and the following two years saw some of the best football players in Auburn's history. If Coach Malzhan's produces quality play and effort from his team, combined with the great recruiting staff, you need not worry about a threshold of victories to see Auburn bring in quality recruits.

Things are very different now than they were 32 years ago. We need "quality play" as well as 8 or more wins to get done what both the coaches and we fans want done in recruiting next year.

THIS. We are in a different age and era. When there is doubt you have to prove it to these kids. They will not just go on faith alone. Add the fact the SEC competition is even tougher than it was then and recruiting being more cut throat than ever before and you bet your sweet bippy we better win some games and be competitive in every game to get the max talent in the 2014 class.

I agree. Different era when Dye took over. Everyone knew that Bear was nearing retirement. Now With Saban and his run along with social media, it is very important to have a lot of success on the field with wins to insure that Auburn is on its way back. We need to build off momentum from this past signing class and spring practice so that we can prove we are going to be legitimate contenders. WDE!
