2023 4* Jackson State Transfer WR Shane Hooks Commits to AU!

There has been some mixed reporting about Auburn's intentions but it has been my belief that we wanted another receiver even after Shorter's commitment. This visit seems to prove just that. Hooks had 64 receptions, 748 yards, and 10 touchdowns in 2022. He is listed as 6'4" 205 and is originally from Orlando, FL.

He is listed as a senior but I'm unclear about what his remaining eligibility is.

That's the biggest question being asked. If he is, I believe he'll be ours

@Zeek He has 1 year left. It will be his Covid year.

He will be a good cultural fit then we find out he isn’t eligible or has some injury stopping us from going all in. I’m at a point if one of two of those questions are a yes , stay clear lol

When I saw him listed at 6’4” 200+ I knew why we lost some interest in a couple of other guys we were looking at.  CHF likes those big WRs.  Hooks could be a productive rotation guy at AU.

CHF is putting a premium on culture.  If he thinks you will detract from that then you'll end up being passed over like Keon was.

So how does this work?

Did the coaching staff actually say to Hooks, "you're our plan B"?

And he sits around and waits?

Are they that up front with these guys?

I haven't really looked into Hooks but the obvious question for me is why didn't he go to Colorado with Deion? With so many players transferring out from Colorado, did Deion not try to bring Hooks with him or does Hooks want to stay closer to home? Just seeing his stats and his size, he looks like a great pickup. Are there other big schools going after him as well?

@AUGoo What has given you that impression?

@TeamZero77 He was committed to Ole Miss. Has offers from Louisville, Liberty, Miss St., Utah, & UCF.

Thank you!!

What do you think our chances are to get him?

Seems pretty good if he's a culture fit.

Seems like it has been awhile since he declared and we showed interest.  But we have had several WR's pass that we have looked at before bringing him in for a visit and, i'm guessing, subsequent offer.

Hoping we lock this guy down. Still worried about finding a #1 WR from this group, although, we seem to have a lot of potential and quality.

Have we given up on the hope that Cam Brown can be a #1 WR?

He fits into that potential group. Hasn't proven a single thing. I would've liked to get the Michigan State WR, but what can you do?

Yeah, MSU kid would have been an immediate #1.  We'll see how he does at FSU and if he's a bad culture kid

Would be pretty disappointing, but I guess in the grand scheme of everything not really surprising.
