Quarterback (Need 1 HS and 1 Transfer)

  • 5* Julian Lewis - USC commit
  • 4* Husan Longstreet - Texas A&M leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Deuce Knight - Notre Dame commit
  • 4* KJ Lacey - Texas commit
Spoiler

Longstreet is priority #1 and Auburn has done a great job getting him on campus twice (all the way from California no less) in two weeks. If Auburn were to miss here then it's likely we kick the tires on the other three listed above.

4* Antwann Hill from Warner Robins, GA is another guy I could see Auburn making a push for should things head south with Longstreet.

I listed a need for 1 HS and 1 Transfer because it's likely Geriner leaves this year and Thorne will be out of eligibility.

For what it's worth, I think that Longstreet commits to Auburn somewhat soon.

Running Back (Need 2)

  • 4* Akylin Dear - Ole Miss commit
  • 4* Bo Jackson - Ohio State leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Ousmane Kromah - FSU leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Anthony Rogers - Alabama commit
  • 4* Alvin Henderson - Miami leads based on my intel
  • 3* Shekai Mills-Knight - Ole Miss leads according to the RPM
  • NR Malakhi Lewis - FSU leads according to the RPM
Spoiler

Auburn is sort of stuck here until Alvin Henderson publicly defects to Miami. They will fight that battle up until the last minute but we're not going to over spend on a 1A running back. A few of the others have visited but haven't yet been the recipients of a big push by Auburn.

Jarquez Hunter and Brian Battie will be gone after this season though. There is a possibility (depending on how Cobb and Alston perform) that Auburn might go fishing in the portal going into the 2025-26 season. If not they will need to take two from the high school ranks and currently don't lead for one.

This is a position group I am tracking closely now that Cadillac is gone.

Wide Receiver (Need 3-5)

  • 5* Caleb Cunningham - Mississippi State leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Travis Smith - Georgia leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Cortez Mills - Miami leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Marcus Harris - Texas leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Phillip Bell - USC leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Chris Lawson - USC leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Radarious Jackson - Ole Miss leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Girard Pringle - Miami commit
  • 4* CJ Wiley - Georgia leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Thomas Blackshear - Georgia leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Dillon Alfred - Missouri leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Kamare Williams - Miami leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Zadian Gentry - SMU leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Tyler Williams - UCF leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Daylyn Upshaw - Auburn leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Tristan Norman - Vandy leads leads according to the RPM
  • NR Branden Hoch - Auburn leads according to the RPM
Spoiler
Spoiler

You might be thinking to yourself "dang Zeek this is a long list" and you would be 100% correct. I expect 3 receivers to transfer out soon, we have a few that will exhaust eligibility this year, and while talented the current group is very young and will need depth. I wonder if following up last years receiver haul will be tough; players will know that finding time on the field with Coleman, Perry, and the other freshmen this year could be tough.

Cunningham feels like a hard pull and a long shot at this point. Seems like he might want to stay in his home state.

After that I am really not sure where Auburn stands with a few of these kids. This is not a position I am super concerned about with Nix as our OC and our previous year in recruiting the position. We will get more talent here for sure. It's a strong recruiting class for this position.

Tight End (Need 2)

  • 4* Ethan Barbour - Georgia commit
  • 4* Nick Townsend - Alabama leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Emaree Winston - Texas commit
  • 4* Chase Loftin - Nebraska leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Logan Brooking - Clemson commit
  • 3* Aj Ia - Auburn leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Hollis Davidson - Auburn commit
  • 3* Ryan Ghea - Auburn commit
Spoiler

We have a lot of seniors that are out of eligibility here. If Micah Riley doesn't see the field much he might look for other opportunities but I don't know if he could just be waiting his turn.

Two are already committed but I could see a transfer being brought in as well. I listed some of the other high school guys because I think this is a spot where we could theoretically process someone.

Barbour and Townsend are guys that I would keep pushing for and if they say yes you make room.

Offensive Line (5-6 HS)

  • 5* David Sanders - Georgia leads according to the RPM
  • 5* Ty Haywood - Oklahoma leads according to the RPM
  • 5* Andrew Babalola - Kansas State leads according to the RPM
  • 5* Josh Petty - Clemson leads according to the RPM
  • 5* Michael Fasusi - Texas leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Solomon Thomas - FSU commit
  • 4* Broderick Shull - Auburn leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Juan Gaston - Georgia leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Tavaris Dice - Auburn commit
  • 4* Carde Smith - Auburn commit
  • 3* Mal Waldrep - Clemson leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Tai Buster - Auburn commit
  • 3* Spencer Dowland - Auburn commit
  • 3* Jacobe Ward - Auburn leads according to the RPM
Spoiler

I am a fan of filling each spot each cycle (LT, LG, C, RG, RT) and any additional when possible. This is a position I would love to see Auburn build through the high school ranks and continually develop in a consitent strength program. Auburn already has three on board that they like a lot. Shull and Smith are two more targets that might close out the high school portion of this class.

Defensive Line & Edge (Need 3-5)

  • 5* Zayden Walker - Georgia commit
  • 4* Isaiah Gibson - USC commit
  • 4* Jared Smith - Georgia leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Zion Grady - Alabama leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Jakaleb Faulk - Auburn commit
  • 4* Landon Merritt - Ohio State commit
  • 4* C.J. May - Auburn leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Christian Gass - Kentucky leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Talib Graham - Ole Miss commit
  • 3* Grayshaun Swain - Auburn leads according to the RPM
  • NR Anthony Kruah - Auburn leads according to the RPM
  • 5* Elijah Griffin - Georgia leads according to the RPM
  • 5* Justus Terry - USC commit
  • 4* Christian Garrett - Georgia leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Andrew Maddox - Ole Miss leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Antonio Coleman - Alabama commit
  • 4* Jourdin Crawford - Auburn commit
  • 4* Malik Autry - Auburn commit
  • 4* Zavion Hardy - South Carolina leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Walter Mathis - South Carolina leads according to the RPM
Spoiler

With three already on board, I think Auburn is being selective with its next 2-3 spots at the position. Jared Smith, Zion Grady, and Antonio Coleman are all guys the staff are working hard to land in this class. This position needs a lot more depth and the staff is willing to invest heavily here.

Linebacker (Need 2-3)

  • 4* Tavion Wallace - FSU leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Jadon Perlotte - Georgia commit
  • 4* Tyler Lockhart - Mississippi State leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Jarcoby Hopson - Ole Miss leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Coleman Lewis - Auburn leads according to the RPM
Spoiler

We brought in a big and talented group of linebackers in the previous cycle. That might be why we aren't pushing hard for a big number in this class. I am tracking this position as one that currently concerns me just a little. After being pretty bad and/or thin at this position for a few years it's not somewhere I want to be complacent.

Defensive Back (Need 3-6)

  • 5* Na'eem Offord - Ohio State commit
  • 4* Jontae Gilbert - Clemson leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Devin Williams - Auburn commit
  • 4* Tae Harris - Clemson commit
  • 4* Mark Manfred - Ole Miss commit
  • 3* Shamar Arnoux - Tennessee leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Dylan Lewis - Tennessee commit
  • 3* Jaylen Bell - Indiana leads according to the RPM
  • NR Zacharey Smith - Auburn leads according to the RPM
  • NR Dante Core - Auburn leads according to the RPM
  • 4* Anquon Fegans - my intel suggests Auburn is trending
  • 4* Kendarius Reddick - UCF commit
  • 4* Eric Winters - Auburn is trending
  • 4* Jaedon Harmon - Alabama leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Jotavion Pierce - Mizzou leads according to the RPM
  • 3* Timothy Merritt - Tennessee leads according to the RPM

Alpharetta high school is less than a mile from my office.  Like I said last week, if we can lock Alpharetta down and away from UGA that might be the best pipeline Auburn would ever have.

If he wants to run block his entire career, he should go to UCF. If he wants to catch balls, he should come to Auburn.

Maybe it's arrogance but typically if I see us running second behind a program like that I assume we haven't pushed that hard. But yes, Matthew Hill cosigns this statement.

Four-star WR hearing from AU 'a lot'

Caleb Jones • AuburnSports

Auburn hasn't offered Dylan Vickerson yet, but he feels it could be coming soon.

The four-star wide receiver out of Fairburn, Ga., was on campus Saturday, watching Auburn take on Samford in its homecoming game. His recent conversations with secondary coach Zac Etheridge and wide receivers' coach Marcus Davis prompted the game day visit, as the 2025 prospect begins to truly explore programs.

What would an offer from the Tigers mean to him?

"A lot, I grew up watching them," Vickerson said. "They weren’t first on my list, but after this visit, I ain’t gonna lie, they moved up a lot."

Right now, Vickerson is hearing from programs like Tennessee, Miami, UCF and Missouri the most, as his offer list grows closer to 20 schools. Auburn's been talking with him a lot over the last month, with the contact period for 2025 recruits opening up in August.

"I just had to come check it out," Vickerson said, "It was good, I really liked it, I liked the atmosphere. Everybody in here, they treated me with respect, I liked the hospitality here. I liked it a lot and just looking forward to coming back."

Both Etheridge and Davis have expressed interest in Vickerson on both sides of the ball. Although he's listed as a wide receiver, the 6-foot-3 Georgia native can also play defensive back.

"Coach Zac (Etheridge), Coach (Marcus) Davis, they’ve been on me a lot, they’ve been on me heavy," Vickerson said. "They led me here to the game. I was kicking it with them, I liked it a lot."

Vickerson might return to Auburn next week for the Georgia game and has plans to visit Miami, UCF and Virginia this fall as well.

Rivals250 WR receiver recaps trip to AU

Caleb Jones • AuburnSports

Auburn hosted one of the top players in the 2025 class Saturday. Saraland High wide receiverDillon Alfred

logged a couple trips to Auburn during the offseason and added another one over the weekend. It was his first game day experience at Auburn and the Rivals250 player enjoyed his time on the Plains.

"It went good, me and my family, we enjoyed ourselves, we enjoyed the game," Alfred said. "I thought the atmosphere was great, I loved the energy from the team and the fans. It was really entertaining, it was fun.

During the visit, Alfred got to catch up briefly with wide receivers' coach Marcus Davis, who's still working to build the relationship with Alfred.

"It’s been good," Alfred said. "Me and him have been in contact a little bit. We have a cool relationship, we’re gonna keep building our relationship."

Auburn was the second school to offer Alfred back in the spring, as the 6-foot wideout's seen his offer list grow to include a plethora of SEC programs. It's big that the. Tigers showed early faith in him.

"It shows me that D-1 coaches, and D-1 colleges in general, believe in you from the start," Alfred said. "It just shows me who really cares and who believes in you that would give me a chance."

Right now, four SEC schools are pushing the hardest for Alfred.

Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina and Missouri are making their interest known, with Alfred planning a trip to South Carolina this weekend. If the four-star can find time this season, he'd like to return to Auburn at some point.

I don't know the details but it sounded like none of his SEC offers were actually ready to take him. That could be sour grapes but just sharing what I heard.

Texas QB commit 'loved' Auburn visit

Caleb Jones • AuburnSports

Some big names were at the Auburn game Saturday.

Saraland, Ala., standout quarterback and current Texas commit KJ Lacey was one of them, as the Tigers did battle with No. 1 Georgia. He'd been to an Auburn game before, but this one was in a league of its own.

"It was crazy, I loved the atmosphere," Lacey said. "I loved how the coaches treated me walking in, introducing me, greeting me and everything, I loved it."

Lacey's last game day visit was in 2022 when Auburn lost by two touchdowns to Arkansas.

"It wasn’t really the best, the atmosphere wasn’t all that," Lacey said about his previous visit. "Now that Coach Freeze has taken over, he’s gonna turn it around."

Head coach Hugh Freeze and offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery have been the primary recruiters in the pursuit of Lacey, who's rated as the No. 14 player in the 2025 class.

Seeing the Tigers compete against Georgia and take the Bulldogs down to the wire certainly grabbed his attention.

"Playing against Georgia, the No. 1 team in the nation, that’s a big statement having a seven point game," Lacey said. "They could have easily won if they could have made a couple more plays."

The 6-foot-1 QB has been committed to Texas since early June, but that hasn't stopped programs like Auburn from pursuing him. Alabama, Texas A&M and Colorado are some schools still in the mix, but Lacey was adamant that Texas was No. 1 still.

Lacey plans to return for the Iron Bowl in November.

Alabama friends, is Saraland always this loaded? I don't follow HS football as religiously as I used to but still check standings and what not. I just don't remember seeing Saraland have this many recruits in the news in the past.

Why would you go to Texas when Arch Manning and Maalik Murphy are on the roster? Even if one transfers you might not see the field until 2027.  I don't believe for a second that this kid is going to Texas.

Rivals250 OL: 'Great' first game day visit

had never been to an Auburn game prior to Saturday.

With the Tigers hosting No. 1 Georgia in its SEC home opener, the Rivals250 offensive lineman decided it was time to see what's happening on the Plains. It was well worth the trip for the four-star.

"It was great," Smith said of his visit. "Ever since the Tiger Walk, as soon as I got here, the atmosphere was good."

Smith saw Auburn battle with Georgia, jumping out to an early lead and hanging in the game with the No. 1 team in the country before the Bulldogs ultimately put it away with a fourth down stop in the fourth quarter. Despite losing the game, Smith felt like the fourth quarter is when the atmosphere reached its peak.

"It was a great game today, great dog fight," Smith said. "It was crazy, fourth quarter hit, it just went up from there."

He wasn't the only Parkview player in attendance, as his teammate and current Auburn commit Jalyn Crawford was also on campus. What does Crawford tell him?

"Great school, great community, you’re gonna love it here," Smith said.

Auburn keeps in regular contact with Smith, as offensive line coach Jake Thornton reaches out weekly. Other schools showing consistent interest include Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Miami.

6'3" | 305 lbs | OG | 2025

He doesn't currently have any visits planned for the fall, those become weekly decisions for the 6-foot-3 lineman. Is Auburn a place he'd like to visit again?

"Yeah, definitely, for sure," Smith said. "The people just keep the energy going. They make you want to come back because of the community type."

They’ve had quite a bit. I couldn’t give you a number or anything, but my wife is from the Mobile, AL area and we go there every couple of months or so from Birmingham. South Alabama is always pumping out good players.

Auburn offers five-star cornerback Dijon Lee Jr.

JD McCarthy

Auburn has expanded its recruiting footprint under Hugh Freeze as they are willing to go anywhere in the country to land elite players. That was once again the case Thursday as they extended a scholarship offer to five-star cornerback and California native Dijon Lee Jr.

Lee is from Mission Viejo, California and Auburn is the first SEC program to offer him. He is a member of the 2025 recruiting cycle and tight end coach Ben Aigamaua is his area recruiter and is the one who is leading Auburn’s pursuit.

Checking in at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds, Lee has the ability to play corner or safety at the next level and is one of the top recruits in the country. He is the No. 23 overall player and No. 3 cornerback in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 2 player from California.

Lee has had a good start to his junior season for Mission Viejo, making 21 tackles and breaking up three passes in their first seven games.
