These are pretty dope if you ask me. Too bad they won't make any of them fast enough to catch Anthony Schwartz.

Let them have their fashion show. We’ll be there to play football.

I liked our blue socks and cleats yesterday. Wouldn't mind staying with those the rest of the year.

UF’s football history was pretty bleak prior to Spurrier. Let them wear their old uni’s and hopefully we can remind them of all the whippings they received back in the day.

We wore those against Kent State too.

How in the world did I miss that? You can revoke my Auburn fandomship for a short period but can we wait until the break between baseball and football camp? :big:

Not really.  Most places around the country, especially up north, play conference games for homecoming.  I actually wish we would.  Homecoming at AU is a joke right now.

Instant analysis: Auburn bullies Mississippi State, sets up top-10 matchup with Florida

Auburn bullies Mississippi State to stay perfect on the year

Gus Malzahn was right: There was no looking ahead to a potential top-10 matchup with Florida next weekend.

No. 7 Auburn proved that by systematically dismantling Mississippi State, 56-23, on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium to remain undefeated on the year. In what had all the makings of a trap game -- the Tigers were coming off a big road win against a top-25 team and have a highly anticipated trip to The Swamp for a ranked matchup next week -- Auburn made sure it handled its business and avenged last season's embarrassing loss in Starkville.

It was Auburn's most complete game of the season, as it raced out to a 42-9 halftime lead and dominated Mississippi State in every phase to move to 5-0 on the year and 2-0 in SEC play, with both wins coming within the West division.

How about that fast start?

Auburn got off to a fast start last weekend at Texas A&M, but Saturday night the Tigers went from fast to Anthony Schwartz speed with the way they came out of the gate against Mississippi State.

Auburn scored on each of its first five offensive drives and finished the first half with six touchdowns on seven possessions. The lone blemish was a drive that ended with a Seth Williams fumble that was reviewed and upheld by the officials. Still, Auburn's 42 first-half points tied the school record for points in a first half against an SEC opponent (1990 vs. Vanderbilt).

Just how efficient was Auburn's offense early on? It only took Auburn eight plays to score its first three touchdowns of the night, taking a 21-0 lead in just more than 6 minutes of game time. Auburn finished the game with 578 total yards of offense and averaged 8.4 yards per play.

Bo Nix unleashed

This was the game Auburn had been waiting to come from its freshman quarterback. In his fifth career start, Bo Nix turned in the best performance of his fledgling career. He completed 16-of-21 passes for a career-high 335 yards and two touchdowns, and he also made plays with his legs, rushing for another 56 yards and a touchdown on seven carries before exiting early in the fourth quarter.

Nix was efficient from the start, completing 4-of-5 passes for 65 yards -- all to Seth Williams -- in the first quarter and finishing the first half 10-of-14 for 189 yards and a touchdown.

Seth Williams' career day

Seth Williams' sophomore season got off to a somewhat up-and-down start. He had the game-winning touchdown in the opener against Oregon, but he injured his shoulder a week later against Tulane. He returned during last week's win at Texas A&M, but against Mississippi State, Williams put his full skillset on display while putting together a career day.

Williams finished with eight receptions for a career-high 161 yards and two touchdowns on 10 targets. He had a long of 39 yards on a deep touchdown pass from Nix with 5:33 to go in the first half. His second touchdown went for 32 yards on a jump-ball to the end zone, and he had another 30-yard gain on a catch-and-run off a slant over the middle in the first half.

It was the second 100-yard receiving day of Williams' career, and his first in SEC play, with the other coming last season against Liberty. Williams' 161 receiving yards were also tied with Robert Baker for 10th-most in a single game in Auburn history.

Defense makes up for 2018's embarrassment

Derrick Brown put it best early in the week: Auburn's defense didn't have to say anything about last year's performance against Mississippi State; the Tigers knew they were embarrassed to the tune of 349 rushing yards in a 23-9 loss to the Bulldogs.

They made up for it on Saturday night. Auburn held Mississippi State to just nine points in the first half, when the game was somewhat competitive, and held Mississippi State to 334 yards on the night. Of those, 166 came in the first half when the game was still somewhat in the balance, and another another 78 came on a garbage-time touchdown drive late in the game. Most impressive? Auburn limited the SEC's leading rusher, Kylin Hill (who entered the game averaging 137.75 yards per game), to just 45 yards on 17 carries as the Bulldogs averaged 3.1 yards per carry on the night.

Play of the game: Boobee meets Bully

Boobee Whitlow took a handoff on Auburn's first play from scrimmage and ran 30 yards for a touchdown. At the end of the run, as he crossed the goal line, he was tripped up from behind and slid pads-first into Mississippi State's live mascot, Bully XXI, an English bulldog that was on the sideline in the northeast corner of Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Whitlow's touchdown was an early statement from Auburn's offense, and his run-in with Bully -- who briefly left the field before returning to the sideline -- was an apt metaphor for the Tigers' onslaught against the Bullogs on Saturday night.

Player of the game: Bo Nix

Bo Nix was a maestro against Mississippi State. The true freshman put together the best game of his career, completing 16-of-21 passes for 335 yards and two touchdowns while adding another 56 yards and a touchdown on seven carries without really seeing the field in the fourth quarter.

I harken back to my previous post. We were their homecoming game in 1970 and won 63-14; can’t recall for sure but maybe that was the game we intercepted Reeves like 9 times ( ? @Mikey, help here). Hoping for a repeat.

edit: The 9 interception game was 1969 in Auburn. Still wouldn’t mind a repeat.
