He can be an Eddy Lacy, Shaun Alexander type NFL back imo... Health is the huge concern. If he gets in great shape and stays healthy, he can be very good imo. Everyone forgets he really was good, plus he was on outstanding Pass blocker.

I'll never understand guys going pro after an injury year... especially when they only have one year to show. I'm guessing he'll be a late round pick or, more likely a free agent. Too many question marks. Had he played one more year and proved he wasn't just a one-hit wonder or major injury concern, I think it would have done a lot for his stock.

Best of luck KP!  Will always enjoy your highlights of trucking defenders last year.

if you notice he announced on instagram and not through Auburn Athletics, do the math.

Why wasn't he just kicked off the team like others?  Did Gus have sympathy for his family and the harm that might do to his chances at earning income playing professionally?

Really don't know what having him healthy all year would have done for us this season but yet another player that had big time potential..Sad. He will sign with someone as a free agent and hopefully carve out a path like Peyton Barber. Peyton has been doing a solid job from what I've seen.

This should of been his decision last offseason. His stock was never going to be higher after last year so I wish he would of declared then and he would of got drafted significantly higher. He was one of the most unique running backs we have ever seen at AU. When he got going he was so fun to watch. War Damn BUBBA!!!!!!! Good luck.

Hope this isn't like rats jumping from a sinking ship.  I guess Holland is next?  Hope Stidham doesn't go, although at this point nothing in this program surprises me.

Don’t understand why anyone would think this is like rats jumping from a sinking ship, even if stidham and holland leave. Both Bama and Clemson (to name just two ) have juniors declaring. If they can make $, I would do it too. Sorry if I sound frustrated but it seems what happens at a Bama, Ohio state or Clemson reflects development for the pros when the players leave early; but it’s somehow negative when it happens at Auburn.

I agree with your reasoning, but I go back to a guy who started two seasons in a row suspended and had other rumors swirling late in the year. I wish him well but as for AU, I always feel it is better to have guys you can completely count on rather than worry about.

I like to think having a lot of early departures for the draft is more of a sign of coaching stability and top 10 recruiting classes than guys guys trying to jump ship.

He will undoubtedly be reduced to a FA contract which actually isn’t a bad move on his part. He can pick and chose where he has the best chance to make the roster and will hopefully get a chance to see what he can do. I sincerely hope he finishes and gets his AU degree.

Nope. Just how it looks these days when you recruit well. Getting juniors drafted is a good problem. Pettway might be a slightly different story but overall, no, this is not indicative of a sinking ship.

As for why he'd stay, I can't think of a reason why he would. Best case scenario, he replicates things he's already done. Worst case, he ends his career before it starts.

I feel Stidham will be the sign of that. If JS jumps, ya gotta wonder what's going on.

Agree. I think it looks good for as well because of the number of AU guys in the NFL climbing. I'll certainly give Gus credit for that in that we get the talent. Something should also be said about our players who have made it in free agency in the NFL. A player like Brandon King who didn't see much time on the field has done very well with the Pats as a specialist on special teams and getting more reps at DB. Quan Bray was able to make the Colts and be their return guy.
