Little less circumspect discussion of the situation going on at SEC rant.

I felt that associate head coach position was just to make him feel better after he took over from Harsin.

Yeah, it's a bastion of discretion and level headedness.

Well, that's why a lot of people don't care for him as a person.

Honestly, we have no idea if he's kept his nose clean.

All eyes have been on him since he’s been hired. If he’s gotten into his old problems, it would’ve been known by now.

Well. Thanks rant for revealing everything that probably didn’t need to be revealed. Sucks that it led to this. But, if true, it was necessary to cut ties.

Maybe. But it took a court filing on a completely separate matter to discover that Freeze had been hiring prostitutes for years at Ole Miss. It's not in a university's best interest to detect nefarious actions from the head coach and air it to the public.

I'm not accusing Freeze of anything or trying to have a new discussion about prior issues. But I am saying one year without a scandal at AU is not indisputable proof that Freeze is Mr. Clean.

Mods, you may want to look at cbo. Looking at their profile, all the posts are extraordinarily negative. May be a rival fan in disguise.

We’ve got to keep pulling in the same direction.

I'm getting on a rhetorical soapbox here. So my apologies.

Can fans get some help with the pulling? The fans show up and support the team. The fans show up to the New Mexico State game and are greeted with poor and uninspired play. The fans show up for a bowl game and are again greeted with poor and uninspired play. How many years do we have to watch WRs dropping the ball? How many years do we have to watch abysmal QB play?  Not just bad QB play but dreadful rip your heart out play. Some fans claim a good game is 150 yards with no TDs and 1 int(it is madness). How many years do we have to see little to no OL recruits get signed? How many years do we need to watch poor to ok OL play?

Auburn is said to have one of the toughest places to play in basketball and football. You hear in many broadcasts of games. Auburn fans buy Under Armor apparel when they don't even like it. I think Auburn fans have done more than their fair share of pulling. It is time for some help from Auburn itself.

Mods, you may want to take a look at ScotsAU. He can't have a civil debate without telling on someone. Also, while searching my profile, he failed to recognize that there is nothing "extraordinarily negative" visible before this very conversation.

I just find it weird to say the running backs have underperformed. How are they supposed to run when the oline is still not up to par. When the line blocks the running backs were fine IMO

Thank you. Our fans are weird. He resigns for some reason other than poor performance as a coach and now he sucks as a coach according to some folks in this thread.

It’s people trying to tack an explanation onto an odd situation without the facts. Caddy did decently well as a coach. Doesn’t mean we can’t find someone better. But there’s no merit to this being a performance issue. Running back has been our only consistent group on offense.

Who feels this way? Aside from a few dum dums, I’ve not seen this anywhere.

You're posting on a forum of people who were largely able to root for and validate Bryan Harsin, and you're wondering why you aren't seeing anti-Freeze posts? He's a hero in comparison to that

Look for opinions outside of the Auburn bubble (I've seen many Auburn fans who don't like him as well, some of them on this board) and you'll see what you're seeking there

No. I’m thinking about Facebook and Twitter. Most of the anti-freeze folks were bammers and ugalies .

I didn't post the "Hugh is unlikeable" thing because that's what I want to turn the thread into that, and I'm not trying to talk down to you at all, but he is generally viewed as a very unlikeable and salacious figure from most non-Auburn people who opine on him (from my experience).

Alright. Let’s flip this another way. Who feels that he is unlikeable? Where are these folks within the Auburn fan base?

May have missed this comment. A lot of people that were initially upset have since let it go since he arrived on campus embraced Auburn completely. I was one of them. Had a full mental breakdown the day he was hired. The way he’s embraced the Auburn culture has won me over. I’d like to challenge you to find more concrete examples of mass Auburn fans saying stuff like this recently.

That's perfectly fine - I just wanted to respond to your sentiment about people not liking the guy. Alot of guys do not like the guy, and I think it would be easier to find pro-Hugh posts from non-Auburn affiliated individuals. Again, that was a very small part of my original post, which was mainly just about the University putting him in a harsh line of fire already knowing he isn't particularly loved outside of Auburn, by allowing Cadillac and possibly Etheridge to exit amicably

I would rather Caddy and Zac look like good dudes and Hugh get whatever he gets from this personally, but from a logical standpoint, he's going to catch alot of flack from alot of people for something he seemingly had no control over

Well if you read the reddit.com/r/cfb subreddit when Freeze was hired there some very vocal Auburn fans adamantly against him. This seems to have subsided somewhat due to the recruiting successes Freeze and staff have had. But make no mistake. Some Auburn fans have been very vocal in their displeasure of the Freeze hire.

This interaction actually went back a page or two. The disagreement was over how people currently feel. I didn’t initially like the hire. I know lots of others that initially felt the same way. A lot of folks have since shifted their opinion based on how Freeze has kept his nose clean and embraced the Auburn culture. Concern for me was that he was a tongue in cheek good guy, who pretended to have morals. This could change if he does something wrong again. But at least to date, he appears to have legitimately had a wake up call that he was not being a good person, and appears to have turned over a new leaf. I can’t say everyone feels this way. In fact, there’s one guy who has commented a lot tonight that seems to have it out for freeze (or could outright be a rival troll). But a lot of folks seem to have flipped their opinion similarly.

I'm not trying to pile on here. But I've never had anyone call me a troll before.

You disliked Freeze so much when he was hired that you "had a full mental breakdown." But when someone has similar beliefs a year later and tells you why some people don't like Freeze, you assume they must be a rival fan? All because of the way he's embraced the Auburn culture?

It's also not asking that much out of Freeze to match the general makeup of what an Auburn man presents as. Won't go to deep into that as it'll be alot more contentious than I care to deal with tomorrow, but Hugh had the look and said the same type of things that he's been saying since he got here. He's been had, when he was doing the stuff he did at that high school he came from, Ole Miss, Liberty, etc....it's not particularly hard to say or look like you're doing the right thing (or the "Auburn" thing)
