So did the booster or boosters win this round of hiring??? I’m seriously asking

Yes. Been trying since February. After #stopthesteele and the post-coup rally around Harsin the Jimmy and the admin learned to combat that with a professor gaslighting campaign.

There's a standard used in the corporate world and in auditing that tests if the executive leadership is setting the right tone for the organization. It's even written into the Sarbane-Oxley laws.  It's part of the executive teams evaluation in audits and when signing the quarterly/annual company reports.  I don't think the Auburn leadership team could pass that evaluation.

Auburn athletics is a smaller “middle market” size organization from a budget perspective and is run in some soft of weird mom and pop structure with major… “investors”” ie boosters. SOX is certainly not relevant or a standard they could adhere to. It’s an academia culture - I wouldn’t and don’t expect too much.

As to for the infatuation with freeze. To me it’s simple, we’re auburn and he beat saban twice. You can decision model the hell out of it (he wouldn’t pass) and it wouldn’t matter. He beat bama twice.  For many - that all thats needs to be said.

We don't accept facts here, Sir. Otherwise we would have to admit we were wrong about a man we personally know nothing about, and then we'd have to stop mindlessly parroting the same thing over and over

Well done sir! Reading posts from all these holier than thou critics not willing to let the man's past sins be put in the rear view mirror is making my butt hurt.. Let it go people! If he messes up while at AU then we can dismiss him... What he did in his past is between himself and God..He owes us nothing, except to do the job we are paying him to do and stay out of trouble from here forward.

I'd be willing to bet for most supporters on this board at least, him beating Bama is not near as important as it's made out to be

It was said from the beginning that Jimmy Rayne wanted Freeze. Apparently they are friends.

Yes. I’ve heard Freeze was close to boosters. Wasn’t sure if that’s true

What he's done in the past is between himself and his employers as well. When the man has demonstrated a pattern of mistake after mistake after mistake literally everywhere he goes it is not unfair to ask how long (when, not if) until he puts Auburn in a untenable situation.

You're right, he doesn't owe us anything. At the same, we don't owe him anything. No benefit of doubt, no support, nothing. Just our administration made an unwise, nepotistic hire (against the wishes and warnings of the fanbase no less) does not mean that he is suddenly deserving of those things. Just because he can be let go when he inevitably gets us into trouble is no reason to invite him to do so

Speaking of... I'm not so sure that his leash is that short. For one he has been anointed by Jimothy Rane himself. Enough said. Secondly, he certainly seems to have refuted the reports that the relinquishing his social media accounts were a condition of his employment. The latter, if true, is a criminally negligent oversight on the part of our administration.

So, if you had not made "a lot more money running global businesses for 30 years", you would have been the AD at Auburn?  Your words, not mine. I'm calling BS on that and maybe your entire self aggrandizing statement.  WDE

Three things:

  • Of course I wouldn't be the Auburn AD...both by temperament and preference I would never be a lifelong bureaucrat who's apparent only skill requirement is doing what the big $$ donor says.  Wow, guilty as charged...I'd rather be in hell with my back broke than do that or any bureaucrat job
  • per you "It takes big folks like Cohen to actually solve problems instead of filling wish list for people who show up at a ballgame a time or two"....I assume you are accusing me and others that do not share your views of HF as being "little people" and with lacking the skills needed to solve problems and do Cohen's job...I mean, after all...we just have a wish list and go to a few games....
  • Given that, I thought it necessary to point out that some of us have a s*** load more skills and experience "solving problems" than the career bureaucrat that came in here and did what Jimmy asked (nah, told) him to do.  Is it self aggrandizing...hell yes....but true nonetheless.  Maybe next time try to throw less shade at those you disagree with and just stick to your argument such as it is...I don't expect to agree with everyone here.  It wouldn't be much fun if there wasn't a lot of back and forth...

Haven't heard anything on here to change my POV.  This is going to take time, if ever, to digest.  Very disappointed in the administration.  As I said in other posts, I cannot imagine personally making a hire like this.  And, even if I was suffering temporary insanity and tried to hire him; I can't imagine my boss and the board letting me do it.

“Criminally negligent oversight”. Good lord people, if you have to sensationalize something to make it sound worse, then maybe it isn’t that terrible. I’ll agree that the DMs were a bad idea, but there was nothing criminal about any of the ones that we’ve seen.

I think it’s fair to say people tend to see auburn football as vast. But in the corporate world you’re comparing it to - yes it’s pretty dinky. Less than $200m/yr.  Amazon makes more than that by noon each day.  However, 1) it’s government 2) its academia 3) they’re not large scale managers 4) there’s no tight organizational structure I can figure out. Result -  I’m surprised we can keep the grass mowed.

My point is this probably always will be political and run half a$$.  Ive worked with several university boards and they’re all a mess. However, when cohen talked about his 57 point check list - that was ridiculous and a telling sign. Net net this was a mess of process and result. It’s just Auburn. It’s like loving your crazy uncle.

Hugh Freeze's phone has gotten him in hot water not once, but twice (that we know of). If our AD didn't have the wherewithal to stipulate that he give up his social media, then yes, that is negligence. Now what's truly sensational is watching this PR firm take the laundry list of his issues and try to whitewash them with their own curated list of "facts". If you're constantly having to put out fires, you probably shouldn't hire an arson...

Ah. We have a new set of drama queens show up.

Let us remind you that Hugh Freeze is now the coach of the Auburn University Football Team.

The Twitter war was lost. Cheer for AU or be gone.

Counter offer: Block me if you have that much of a problem with me voicing my disdain for this objectively bad and in due time ruinous hire. No one and nothing is forcing my opinion upon you. We both have just as much right to be here.

We have a new coach. We are moving forward.

We have reached new lows. Negligence is not doing ur due diligence in the hiring process. It’s not having a grown man give up his social media account 🤦🏿. Matter of fact his social media stuff was addressed in the presser

The admin are handling it by giving him a handler, a PR specialist, and taking away his Twitter.

Note: I haven't read this entire thread. I find it unlikely that any football coach these days will not have a twitter account. Is there any reason to think AU has banned Coach Freeze from twitter? Has the admin even discussed this with him? Sorry, but this reeks of bammer bull crap. If there is evidence that substantiates this claim I'll look at it and if necessary, eat crow.

Ok. I'm thinking Coach Freeze will concentrate on working the portal and let Caddy & co. handle most of the high school/JUCO recruiting. We've got a lot of work to do and a short time to get it done. War Eagle, fly fast!

Can you define ethics in real terms from your perspective for this topic?
