We need to keep Bridges and Atkinson. TB may be the best corner prospect in HS/JUCO combined for 2015.

Totally agree with you Dixie, Bridges could be a shut down corner, and Akinson is perfect for the Star position.

If Auburn gets a commitment from D'Andre Walker then I like our chances to keep Atkinson.

Aren't we trending right now?

MA being committed helps too.

Well if UGA already has several DE commitments, that helps us with Walker.

they have 4 of em out of a whopping 9 committed recruits so far. Georgia must be hurting for some D ends

They're recruiting Walker at LB not DE. That gives us an advantage though because Walker does not want to play LB.

Rivals has not rated 2016 kids yet. You must be talking about 247.

New Top247 drops Wednesday

Barton Simmons...

We're doing some final tinkering today with the Top247 for 2015 following The Opening and the new rankings will be released on Wednesday morning.

A couple notes:

There will be a new No. 1 in the country

There will be a new No. 1 QB in the country

There was a lot of movement in the five-star range. Several dropped out and were replaced by new names. As things stand right now. 6 five-stars drop to 4 and 6 four-stars are bumped to 5.

Some Auburn commits/targets rose in the new Top247, some fell and some stayed the same.

Martez Ivey shined at The Opening.

The highest-ranked target remains 5-star offensive tackle Martez Ivey of Apopka (Fla.), who stayed at the No. 4 spot. Ivey did, however, see his rating rise from a 98 to a 99 following his performance at The Opening last week in Oregon, where he was offensive line MVP.

Defensive end Josh Sweat of Virginia, a physical freak who dominated at The Opening, is the new No. 1 prospect. He jumped up from No. 6.

Ivey has Auburn and Florida as his leaders.

“Martez actually moved up one spot in his rating to a 99 because we think he is still the offensive tackle with the most upside in the county,” said Barton Simmons, 247Sports national analyst. “He has a great frame. He’s still getting familiar with his pass set, but he’s so athletic and has great reaction quickness. I think by February, he’s a guy to watch to definitely be a candidate for the No. 1 spot."

Quarterback Deondre Francois of Florida was one of the Auburn targets to move up, going from 243 to 223 after a respectable showing in Oregon. Francois has Auburn in his top four and is expected to visit this weekend.

One Auburn target that fell was defensive tackle Daron Payne of Birmingham (Ala.) Shades Valley. Payne, who checked in at 6-foot-2, 348 pounds at The Opening, had a solid showing, but didn’t look like a 5-star, according to Simmons. He fell from No. 28 to No. 53, and went from a 5-star to a 4-star. Auburn is in Payne’s top group with Alabama and Texas. “He’s still a guy we really like,” Simmons said. “He showed us some things at The Opening that were really impressive. He definitely had flashes of being a dominant player. But we wanted to move him to a high 4-star because we feel as a 5-star you need a little more consistency out of him. He still has a chance to be extremely disruptive on the next level.”
