Saban retiring

I’m seeing Lanning’s name mentioned. I hope that’s not true, but as meticulous as Saban is, it wouldn’t surprise me if the coach to replace him has already been decided. I got this from a friend of mine who is a huge bama fan. I hope it’s not true:

My son told me his coach who has connections down there, told him before it was announced.  He says Ms Terry has been diagnosed with dementia.  That’s why. She only has a few really quality years left.  Now I’m not sure that’s true but that’s what his coach told him.

That’s sad to hear about his wife.

Yeah, if that's the case, I'm praying for him through that situation. Watching a loved one deteriorate is rough.

It's a terrible disease. I've never had anything but respect for Saban, and the only thing I ever had against him was him coaching at Alabama.

The planets have aligned for 1 moment.
Pete Carroll is out in Seattle. He is AVAILABLE. He still wants to Coach.
Unbelieveable on field coach.
Super Energy…

Get a REAL TIME SUCCESSFUL COACH.

or let him end up next door. And now you real problems. DC Ed Orgeron .

Has a history of cheating too. Would fit in just great at Buma

I'll admit to being very wrong here, I thought he was going to still be coaching into his 80s.

I would hate to be the guy that replaces him. No win situation. You would be maintaining at the very best- and that would be unlikely.

Don’t think so, in this new age of football a coach there can be very competitive. Maybe not the same level
but with their resources and people ingrained throughout the ncaa it won’t be as difficult.

The assistants will be key as we see at Auburn every year.

Sorry if someone's already said it, but the saying goes, "You don't want to follow the legend, you want to follow the guy that followed the legend."

Bama's always gonna get theirs, but Saban was a generational coach.  There's no continuing on without a blip.

Even if they started classes at bama?

No and you didn't put that important detail in your OP.

Carroll is 72 just like Saban.

Bama is going to go for someone younger that can coach for 10 years plus.

And they would need to offer him $10/year.

However, If any of them started classes today, they couldn't enroll here or anywhere until after Spring

Auburn fans get a little wonky when there’s too much change. We may see some movement in coaches/players/staff etc.

@passthebiscuitsas in our staff heading to Bama?

But no buyout on the Bama side like we’ve perfected lately.
