No, they tried to upgrade on those guys, failed, and then as a last resort brought the guys we could back.

It feels like that's exactly how everything panned out once it was obvious this staff just couldn't land upgrades.  Well these 5-6th yr seniors will have a Master's degree when they leave, all on AU's dime.

Going into December everyone said it's OK we have a small OL class bc it'll be a really big Portal haul, 3-5 OL and we'll just get a bunch of HS kids next year.

I'm not sure how anyone can spin this portal recruiting in a positive way.. The good news is some of our OL is coming back. The bad news is some of our OL is coming back..Its a vicious cycle

With the lineman returning you can manage the roster.  Still time to add some high school lineman and red shirt first year. Still time to add thru portal as well.  Numbers can still be brought up.

I know a highly rated OL in the Florence area. Has offers from Penn St, FSU, Arkansas, Notre Dame among others. He would commit to AU on the spot.. He is a 2023 guy, but Bama is communicating now. AU will drag their feet and miss out.. Its baffling

It's weird we went from "we need to upgrade OL in the portal" to "its good these guys are coming back, their experience and 17th year in college will finally pay off"

It's bad. Like you said. We did a completely awful job at OL
