The truth of the matter is Freeze knows he screwed up in the past.

He knows this may be his final shot.

He has not had a perfect season at Liberty, but I think what he has done at Liberty in this short time has been really good. Yes he has had bad Ls too.

He wants to be here. Our Rivals know what type of coach he can be.

He fits the boxes behind the scenes that Auburn people like (I hate that talk).

With all the right pieces moving forward, and Freeze work ethic, this can be amazing. 

I also understand that people are disappointed and will need a wait and see approach. I hope the fans, if Freeze is named coach, give him some benefit of a doubt.

Also, he for sure would keep caddy.

With all the Caddy energy talk (and rightfully so) I think this is the better hire than Lane. Freeze has always had energy and been a coach that loves and is loved by his players. I think that energy and the very comparable coach skills between Freeze and Kiffin make Freeze the better hire.

Like seriously. I utterly despise it. I get there's a lot of moral turpitude in the college game these days, but I can't get behind this.

I hope this hypocrite crashes and burns. Some things are more important than football.

Just wait until he starts losing games and we get back to watching G5 offenses. We just hired a guy who can't afford a bad year.

There is no consensus hire here - not even Caddy.  If he were hired and lost a few in '23, it would start all over again.

I agree with your thought. IF Freeze has the opportunity to be AU’s next Head Coach AND is focused on regaining an upward career path this could be great for both AU and Freeze.

He has been my personal choice all along, since LK surely has his long term goals pointed elsewhere. I will get a lot of flack by expressing this thought out loud, BUT Freeze appears to want to be at AU and could be just the mix needed right now.

I think that he has the personality as a Head Coach to retain the best from our “current” staff (Cadillac, etc.) and not feel threatened by their presence. He will need a few more hardworking recruiters and dynamic coordinators.

i believe this scenario may have a longer lifespan than one with LK. Hoping it happens.

Serious question. Media is about to come out and say Freeze was the #1 guy all along when we know it was Kiffin. Do we ALWAYS miss out on our #1 guy or what? In my lifetime, we have never hired the top guy we were after. Always ends up being the the 3rd or 4th guy we hired

Not buying it. This feels like last second noise. Especially after the reports on both Auburn and Ole Miss pay sites that Kiffin signed yesterday and is planning to announce tomorrow.  My money is still on Kiffin. He has nothing to gain at Ole Miss, and has peaked that program.

If it is Freeze, Cohen is a bust. We have every advantage over Ole Miss. no excuse to not sign him.
