I tell you what other than he coached for saban tell me why we should keep him other than he is all that is left Because that is all I am hearing so far.

I think you'd probably need to talk to someone that has seen him coach in person, such as Gus, Muschamp, TRob, Saban, Smart, etc. Outside of that, besides having coached in Saban's (and thus Muschamp's) schemes for several years now, I'd say you take into consideration things like continuity for the defensive personnel, recruiting, etc.

All I'm saying is, you (nor I) know enough to be making such definitive declarations.

I'd agree its nothing like the Muschamp coronation before it was known that he had the job. I seem to recall quite a few people who were seemingly right on the edge of that ledge if he wasn't offered the job and that performance paled in comparison to the posts about why Bobby Petrino should be the next HC when the committee was handling that hire. I do not understand why Thompson keeps on getting mentioned as a possible DC. This would likely wind up getting Gus fired in a season or 2. Filling in as interim DC for the bowl game is one thing, but being promoted to DC is just not a wise move at all. Of course, keeping CLT as a position coach is a smart move for Gus.

We have seen many names for the DC position, and many of them would be an excellent choice. I am not sure what Gus is up to with filling this position. I would have thought that Gus would have already had a DC on board along with the position coach as well.

I am sure that Gus is trying to find the right persons for DC & defensive position coach. I do not think we will lose Rodney Garner & Lance Thompson. Gus could have Thompson promoted to associate DC & Linebacker Coach. Who knows at this point.

I could be wrong, but I would be surprised if that is a big part of the equation. While one does need 10 years to be vested, if a person worked in another state retirement system (or US military), they can "buy" that many years in the Alabama System when they come back which most people do by withdrawing/rolling over their out of state retirement contributions back into the Alabama System. If he needs another year, CLT could simply buy one based on his time worked in GA, TN, or LA retirement systems
